Classified ads and links website need valuing

I have started website neonads.com with intention to make a profitable resource. After 3 years:
We have a total of 1161 users and 433 ads. There have been 94796 ad views.
The profit from it very low, hosting will expire in 8 days, domain name in 1 month.
I do not know what to do with the site. The screen of stats neonads.com/neonads_stats.jpg

It is the case that buyers are looking for profit and if you aren't making regular profit they may not be interested. How low is the profit and do you think you could boost it a bit prior to selling in a few months?

If the answer is no you've got a fair few inlinks - about 180 - could you not just keep the domain and 301 the traffic elsewhere? That's got to be better than letting the domain expire.

That's easy. to buy handy-ready-business. do nothing and money drops in purse.
I'm trying free myself from the site that I have other projects. No time no wish no capacity to make something with this one.
But the site has good name, age and design. It's worth something

So you can do nothing and get free money from this site but yet you need to "free yourself" to work on other projects.

    You see the contradiction here?

But the site has good name, age and design. It's worth something
Site has an OK name and an OK design, it does have some age to it but that's not enough to make it worthwhile for most buyers.

I doubt you would find anyone on here who would be interested, you might get mid XX for it on Flippa based on the information that you have provided.

I'm worked with this site 3 years. In first two the site reached PR3, but I maked BIG mistake with selling links from it. I'm sure if the site still my in the next month I'll make it profitable in short time. But I'm really busy now

audioman, I understand where you're coming from and many sellers see it the way you do. They think it's pretty stupid of a buyer to expect to get something that will keep generating profit without any effort on his part.

Funnily enough, some buyers would agree with it too. They think that if it's making money and there's little to no work involved, then that can't be right - nobody would sell a site like that.

However, that's not the case. Let me explain.

When you buy a business you're investing money. That money has to generate a return whether you put in effort or not. If you have to put in a lot of work to earn 3% on your capital you'd rather put that capital in some government bond and earn 3%, why buy a site? So there is a premium or "interest" worth to that money. Then there is risk. If there are two investments both giving you 5% and one is riskier than the other you would go with the safer investment, right? If you go with the riskier investment you'll want more than 5% to compensate for the extra risk. The higher the risk the more the return you will expect before you take it on. Internet businesses are very risky compared with other investments so usually they have to be generating substantially more returns to justify the investment.

OK, so the profit coming in has to cover interest and has to cover a premium for risk. That's before any work is done. Do you agree with that?

How much did you get for it? What were the user, revenue, and profit stats at the time of the sale?
