Are Adsense sites as risky as affiliate sites?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when people sell Adsense sites are those sites at high risk of being terminated if google decides to make changes? I seen a network of adsense sites for sale and the seller is asking for $70k and reported net income of $30k. My question is now are these adsense sites at high risk just as much as affiliate sites?

The riskiest sites get little to no traffic and get clicked on artificially (click fraud). The next riskiest site have little to no content. The key point is the conversions. If adertisers are able to sell their products and get a return on their investment, they will be happy. Google is happy when the advertisers are happy. So, I would ask myself, if the sites are going to be good for the advertisers. If the sites are poor at converting, then Google smart pricing goes into effect and your earnings go down a lot.

The source of traffic risk is a completely different one to the revenue source risk.

The risk of Adsense sites being terminated from the program rest largely on how strictly they are following the TOS. As long as the site is a generally useful site and the webmaster keeps up with the constantly changing Adsense rules, there's a 90-99% chance that Google won't terminate the account.

I didn't say 100% chance because I've known of cases where Google has removed sites from the program and/or terminated sites even though they were 100% compliant. One was the subject of a click attack - 100% clear it wasn't the owner responsible for the attack - and Google probably figured it was the type of site that could attract further click attacks and was therefore "too much trouble". That site was a $200 pm site in a $20K per month account.

Another example was a one-page satire site that I believe Google terminated after many years of trouble free operation just because it figured some people wouldn't get the joke - one of those rare occasions where Google has a sense of humour failure.

DigitalPoint has been banned from Adsense!? That's big news, thanks for the link.

I'm not surprised. There are some great discussions on DP, but the majority of the posts are idiotic, spammy, low quality, fluff. The site should have been banned long ago on quality grounds. What I am surprised about is the (apparent) reason for the ban - ads on unrelated gambling sites. But then we know that the reason Google gives in the email is not necessarily the reason they banned you!

Goes to show, it doesn't matter how big your account is, you can still be banned.

What's this about eBay and cookie stuffing? Never heard of it. Shawn always seemed a decent sort to me.

Nobody tells me anything around here!

LOL, sorry I'll try to keep you in the loop from news from years ago

From what I understand, he was using the DP Ad co-op program that he ran to stuff e-bay cookies onto unsuspecting web surfers. He, allegedly, had some nice safeguards built in to avoid detection as well (e.g. no cookie stuffing if your IP was in the geographic area of Ebay HQ).

Oh Boy! That case is still dragging on and from the court documents it looks like Shawn has more than his hands full and has spent tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

    Anyway, back to the point:
I seen a network of adsense sites for sale and the seller is asking for $70k and reported net income of $30k. My question is now are these adsense sites at high risk just as much as affiliate sites?
Some sites are more at risk than other sites. If you could provide the URLs people would be better able to tell you the risk areas they spot. If you provide it publicly, I'll have a look for you myself and post what I find. Or you can pick someone to work privately for you on this.
