I've got news for everyone from Flippa to flipfilter - I'm not looking for a job!

Seriously, though, I already get a lot of site-for-sale leads that come to me by email and forms at various sites I own. Even this forum is now generating emails from people who want to sell their sites.

These take a lot time to go through and filter. After filtering, I post some in BSTE. I'm currently speaking with a seller of a web business that makes several hundred thousand dollars a year. This seller wants to sell for $1.2 million, a price probably outside of the budget of many here and on Flippa, so I'm directing this seller to a broker. But it all takes time. I've spent probably a couple of hours reading the detailed sales memorandum, exchanging emails etc., and that's just on this one case.

Now if there were a decent marketplace for better websites....

<added>benitez17 and Rover, those are good suggestions!

    And I'm flattered.

If members here want to use my ugly mug to set something up, I'm quite happy to let you borrow it, I don't use it much.

The cats in my neighbourhood keep using my garden as a toilet - can I use it to scare them away?

I got distracted today and spent an interesting hour on this one search I need to sell my website

A big tip I'd like to share: Don't forget the fine tuning. Go to the left column of the SERPS page (a fairly recent Google facility), and open up the Search Tools. Try those tools with the searches discussed in the OP. Fine tune based on date of the page, niche etc. And don't forget the wonder wheel option.

I found three potential buys within an hour of searching. That's a pretty good result in my book.

One day some blogger is going to take all these tips and put them together in one killer blog post. But you heard it here first!

True, but there is a lot of sifting in Flippa as well. Fine tuning your techniques and put some automation together does help to cut down the time it takes - kmander is the one who is big time into automation on exactly this type of stuff. Incidentally, I hear on the grapevine that he's leaving his job to become a full time webmaster

Would link brokers be a good source of potential sites to buy? Link buyers would have sites (hopefully) in the same niche as you and might be receptive to an offer.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. I have used banner ad brokers like BuySellAds to find websites to target, so link brokers should work as well.
