Most of what I know about Luke is from this forum. I've come the the same conclusion - you seem like a good guy Luke.
One thing I've learned over the years is how expendable I am. Flippa will trudge on without you. They may be a little worse off without your influence but they will probably follow the same road they are on now no matter what. (Not to say the direction they are heading is good or bad - it just is.)
One thing I have a hard time understanding is why a company such as Flippa would need a marketing guy to be physically present. Three HOUR commute? That's about 2 hours 50 minutes too much.
Andy
I was pretty hard on him at first because it irritated me that Flippa hired a marketing person instead of spending money to improve the marketplace or fix all of the problems they had at the time, but I think it was money well spent for Flippa, and I don't understand why an online company can't allow someone to telecommute, especially when one of the owners lives in Canada and the company has staff in 3 different countries.
Anyway, I hope he sticks around here and shares more of what he knows outside of promoting Flippa.
Congratulations Luke. Spending time with your family is #1.
They let him work one day a week from home. I would have thought that he could have worked from home most days. Anyway, it's possible there's a bit more to the story, but the important thing is that he's following his heart. One thing I have a hard time understanding is why a company such as Flippa would need a marketing guy to be physically present. What now for Flippa? A new marketing manager? I guess I wouldn't be eligible![]()
Good luck to you Luke, I hope you'll keep in touch.
Thanks guys. You've kept me on my toes and taught me plenty.
There really isn't much more to it than what I've stated in my blog post. Aside from the commute, I've also wanted to have my own business (again) for some time now, as well as work from home in the beautiful semi rural surrounds where my home is. I really would have liked my tenure at Flippa to be longer; there's so much more to do and some exciting things in the pipeline.
Flippa is in good hands with Dave at the helm, not to mention the other talented people behind the scenes.
