    SEMRush Equivalent

    Hi all,

Just started using SEMRush on the free trial. Looks and feels great to use, I really like it. The cost is a bit steep though so I was wondering if there is any other similar tools that are cheaper or even FREE that you could recommend.

    Regards
    Julian

I'm using SEMRush too. There are alsoI've not used any of those, though, so can't comment on how good/bad they are.

Adwords "Keyword Tool" looks like the thing even though the statistics are completely different to SEMRush, Mmmm confusing.

My layman's view is that SEMRush is useful for finding out more about a particular site's performance (what keywords they rank for etc), whereas the Google Keywords Tool gives you data that focuses more on the keyword side o things.

For example, you could use SEMRush to determine that the keywphrase bringing the most organic search traffic to Flippa is "no reserve". You can also find what Adwords keywords they are bidding on etc.

Generally, I use the Google Tool to give me an idea of the demand in a particulare area, and I use SEMRush to find out how well a particular site performs.

Oh right I see. So I guess that SEMRush mostly shines when you want to interigate a site that you are interested in purchasing?

That's how I use it. You don't always have access to a site's traffic data, but you can get a rough idea of traffic from SEMRush, what keywords they rank organically for, what they're bidding on and who their competitors are.

You can get a 33% discount on SEMrush via the Tools and Resources section in your Flippa account.
