Thumbs up Specialized website marketplaces, what business model would you like?

    Hey everyone,

I've been through some growing pains with my website marketplace. I realized early on that setting a different price point (even if it was at $0) didn't work. In order to excel as a marketplace it needs to be unique. It needs to be focused on solving an issue that Flippa can't control. This point was well put by FlipFilter.

So I'd appreciate some input. What would you guys like in a specialized marketplace?

Would you like a marketplace focused on premature websites? Established websites? Maybe even restrict it to failed startups that have huge potential? Would having a submit and approval method work best?

How about the negotiation process? Would having a video conferencing tool be handy/used by you? Through personal experience a majority of the websites I've sold barely got touched. I would love a way that I can find qualified buyers who are serious about carrying my website forward.

So what do you guys think? What type of niche marketplace would you most be interested in seeing?

premature websites, Established websites, failed startups
I like the names you give them. It's spot on - the bulk of products coming to market are exactly that - premature sites or template junk, established websites and failed startups otherwise referred to by sellers as "sites with potential", sites that they "haven't started marketing yet" etc.

I think we need to stop referring to templates as businesses or even websites! Premature websites would be one alternative term. I would also suggest "Wannabe Websites".

It needs to be focused on solving an issue that Flippa can't control
I don't believe it needs to solve anything. If it's reproducing exactly what Flippa is doing - and listing the same type and range of products as Flippa - all it needs is critical mass and then it can rely on its $0 price advantage.
