Brokers and payment for website from purchaser

To the website brokers out there,

What do you guys normally do when receiving payment for a website you are selling for a client form the person buying.

I was thinking of taking funds and acting as an escrow myself....

I would like to use an escrow service for both but it can eat into costs.

    Whats your preferences?

There is no mention on your site that you are a registered escrow. That would make what you're doing illegal both in the EU where you seem to be based and in the US and in most other countries.

I would like to use an escrow service for both but it can eat into costs.
There isn't such a thing as being an escrow for one party so I don't understand what you mean by an escrow service for both buyer and seller. Costs? It's only in the sub $500 market that people worry about things like the cost of the escrow service. What's your average deal size, nEquity? Maybe you should move out of that market.

Sounds strange. A broker wouldn't normally get involved in payment - that's purely between buyer and seller.

Ok I havent taken any funds as an escrow as of yet, Its just what I was thinking of doing because one of the things so many buyers are worried about it the seller running off with the booty!

"There isn't such a thing as being an escrow for one party so I don't understand what you mean by an escrow service for both buyer and seller"

I have no idea what you are talking about in relation ot what I said. I never said anyhting about an escrow service for one party it is for both.

But yes my deal size is small, I am building the business and don't think I would get any larger deals just yet.

How much are your escrow services you usually use?

3Six, I have had a word with nEquity.

Just to avoid confusion: nEquity originally said that he provided escrow services for buyers. On reading 3Six's post he realised the legal trouble he could get into and decided to withdraw his claim. However, instead of stating that in a new post he edited the original one to remove the claim and pretended he never made it. nEquity, this does not reflect well on you.

If you have expertise in a subject the best way to demonstrate it is to provide some information and answer questions others have.

I apologise. Never intended to cause trouble. I repeat however, I DO NOT PROVIDE escrow services and never have. It was more a case of waht we would like to do, but obviously would not partake in if not allowable for legal reasons

I am interested to know if it would be ok to have a buyer send money through to you on say paypal, and then send that money over to the seller form the buyer? I mean waht if the sller and/or buyer wants it done this way as they dont want contact with the

Do you really want to open yourself up to the potential liability if something goes wrong?

No I dont. I guess you are right. It seems best to stick with a tradition escrow service or they directly pay eachother.

Will open another thread on trusted escrows to use if thread doesnt already exist

Escrow.com all the way. I have never had any issues using them and both buyers and sellers trust the service. I would never try to be the middle man in that regard...leave it to the pros.
