Hi Guys, well its been a busy week ! - as a complete newbie to the "business" side of the internet I am learning fast but making some real bloomers !! - well I say bloomers but let me know what you think?

I found a website called "websitevaluespy" last week and it basically lists websites and gives the ranking and value of them etc. It is incredible what some of these are worth !! -

Anyway my idea was to scan these top domains and try and get the .co version of them. From there build a website, emulate what they do and try and get some of the organic traffic. I found www.four11.com and found that the .co version was available.

I could not believe my luck !! this was one of the main directory enquiry sites for the USA, was now part of Yahoo and got millions, yes millions of hits per week (according to websitevaluespy) I bought www.four11.co immediately. I got on the .com site and did try it out. It would not link to anything but in my defence, thought I was doing something wrong, needed an American number etc. Blinded by greed probably !

I have since found out that the site is dead, and now superseded by www.411.com? I was crestfallen !! -
Obviously the info on websitevaluespy was old, incorrect or whatever.

Anyway I am still going to publish the site with a directory content obviously and see what happens. I am old school myself and still think of 192 as "the" directory in the Uk, so I wonder if people in the US would still look for four11 ? for their enquiries. what do people think?

I like the innovative way you're thinking. Actually someone made millions using just such a technique - he did a deal with the Cameroon government to redirect .cm typos - some call it a scam, but I think it was pretty smart of him.

Instead of going down the websitevaluespy route, why don't you try the, albeit imperfect, Alexa route? Domains with top Alexa rank must have decent amounts of traffic.
