    'Building a website' section

    Hi everyone.

As great as this forum is for providing general webmaster information, with special focus on the buying and selling of websites, I have recently begun to wonder whether a unique section should be added for the construction of new websites from the ground up. I know this isn't everyone's area of expertise, but I feel it would open up the forums to an influx of new experts, who may already be present and looking to sell one of their creations. Of course, many users here do build websites, and there could be a lot of discussion there to be had with newbies to the game such as myself. I know there are areas, such as Website 101, where this type of discussion can take place, however I feel an individual board dedicated to things such as HTML, Wordpress, JavaScript etc would be a great addition.

I'd love to get everyone else's views on this, and see whether or not it could become reality.

    Many thanks for your time

It's a good suggestion mgallone, and I'm all for serving a demand. I know there've been a few questions about how to do this and that on the technical side of things but do you think there are enough to warrant a new 'Building a website' section? If there wre, I'd support it, if only to learn something myself

I agree, there isn't perhaps a huge amount of this kind of topic being discussed, at least not on a daily basis. Howevern as I mentioned before, a dedicated section may bring about more questions and answers by its presence. You're quite right though, it all depends on the demand

    building a site section...

I think its a great idea!

Im still on a big learning curve and trawl the interweb all the time for 'how to' guides for building useful/moneymaking websites etc!

Ive learnt loads already from you guys on here and it would be great knowing that the information was coming from a trusted source!

(added) - i guess the only down side though is that you'll probably get alot more 'newbies' like me, who are just acting like information sponges! You guys on here are mostly 'experienced people'....do you actually want more pain in the axxxx's like me??

I don't think more newbies would be a bad thing, after all, everyone has to start somewhere! The great thing of course is that the 'information sponges' will eventually be able to impart their wisdom onto others, creating an information cycle .

    Thanks for the feedback/idea, mgallone.

I merely administer. If there's enough demand for this, I'll set up a sub-section in Website 101. I know very little HTML, CSS, js etc., and I'd probably be the main beneficiary but at the moment there are only 80 threads in Website 101 with 843 posts.

It's a good idea, so how about this? Let's build some threads/posts in Website 101 on the topic and if it takes off, I'll create the new section and move relevant threads into it to keep them all together.

Hi Clinton, thanks for the consideration

Building some threads in that section sounds like a great idea, and I'm all for it. Hopefully we can tap into a well of knowledge that has previously been under used
