A common theme I've come across in the UK, if you say something isn't right is, "Well, no one has complained before". The implication being that everything must be fine because no one else verbally complained. I don't blame them for not complaining. What's the point?

Even so, I still "complain" (I prefer to say, "Let them know if something is wrong"), because I expect them to do something to make it right. Sometimes that can be done at the time or later, either way it takes the sting out of having paid for a bad or mediocre experience.
