    Adult Traffic

    Hi all.

Long story short I bought a domain many months ago. I didn't develop it and just let it sit. Well, I decided to search the domain on the Google keyword tool and it gets 12,000 EXACT searches per month (global). I was shocked. The things ranking in the top 3 positions are somebodies MySpace and a whois search. My domain is a .net. I suspect the people searching this are looking for porn as the name is similar to another porn site... anyway I have decided to get it ranking in the first position. Will be easy because there is zero competition. My question is, what will be the best way to earn from this traffic (if I get any). If Google's keyword tool is correct I could potentially get 6000 visitors per month to the site, which is quite a lot. What do you guys reckon?

I'm going to set it up and see what happens, if any traffic comes in. Will be interesting.

From what I understand porn traffic isn't worth much so don't get too excited about this one especially with only a potential 6k visitors per month.

If I were you I would see if the porn site in question has an affiliate program and if they did then I would probably just cloak the site and send Google visitors directly to their page (well through a redirect or two to hide the traffic source) and see if you can make a few bucks off their affiliate program.

How easy it is to monetise depends on whether it's general porn, or a very specific niche. I'm inclined to agree with tke71709 - general porn traffic is notorious for low eCPMs. Don't be disappointed if the 6,000 uniques don't make enough for a tube of K-Y Jelly.

Shot down my hopes in a fireball of flames. I'll still have a try, isn't going to take much time up. It's general porn. Maybe the domain would be worth selling (once ranked) so somebody can develop an actual porn site on it... then I suppose the visitors would get what they want.

Hey, I've been wrong before... and I've no doubt I could be proved wrong again in the future
