    Selling a Seasonal Website

Hey everyone. I have a site based around Easter. It is an exact match domain and is number 1 for that particular keyword. Up to the Easter date, last year, it went from about 40 visitors/day up to 130/day.

I was considering selling it and was wondering the best way to go about it. More specifically, when to sell it. It didn't generate any revenue, so it would really be based on traffic and the design is good.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I would imagine that selling the site immediately after its busy period would make it look better. But buyers are going to discover that the site is seasonal from looking at your traffic data.

Is there any way you could get the site to make some money? At least that would demonstrate to buyers that it's possible. If you don't, most will assume you've tried and failed, and that the site can't make money.

I'll second hooperman's comment about the lack of revenue. It doesn't matter what the design looks like or how many visitors the site gets if it isn't making money, unless you have a good explanation.

That's what I was thinking. It was really an experiment, and it didn't work out as I expected. It didn't even make money from Adsense. I was thinking of posting it on Digital Point and just seeing how much it would go for...

    Thanks for the help!

Sounds like the type of site where the benefit comes from the knowledge gained while you experiment with monetising methods and honing your skills, not from a cheap sell off.

True. And maybe picking more profitable seasons to build a website. Easter's not really a buying season, at least not like Christmas or even Halloween.
