Make Money As a Virtual Security Guard

For those of you in Europe with some free time, a website in the UK is offering to pay £1,000 to people who are willing to watch CCTV feeds and report potential crimes. More information from the BBC here. Obviously, the anti-CCTV and privacy advocates are not pleased about the launch of this site.

Do you have a problem with this? Personally, I don't see what the problem is, since these feeds are probably being watched by someone already, and they are all supposed to be publicly available anyway. I see it as just another company taking advantage of the masses of people online with not much to do to offer a service to customers.

How ironic, I considered something similar long ago. Watching CCTV security cameras really is unskilled labour and I thought if one opened an office in Vietnam or the Philippines then one could be the place to go for security companies to outsource this to.

Lol, this stuff is borderline scammy:

In accordance with the ICO rules and guidelines, a seamless ID and Age verification check will be undertaken instantly a Viewer applies for membership. Once this has been confirmed a Viewer will have the option to become a member by paying an annual, quarterly or monthly subscription securely through our site
    • Annual £12.99 discounted saving of 45.6%
    • Quarterly £4.99 discounted saving of 16.4%
    • Monthly £1.99 standard
Not much wrong with that yet but it seems like they have only £1,000 to shell out each month and the "most successful" crime reporter gets it all...

    Commission based crime reporting LMAO

lmao @ that. I can see thousands of housewives buying corny detective hats and signing up with usernames like hetty_wainthropp32. Dare I say - Chav Housewive's policing Chav's? (too far off the mark?) If they managed to spot a slapstick comedy moment they could get a £250 bonus too - what with You've been framed now accepting digital video.

Sky isn't even much more expensive.
