    Rules For This Forum

    This is a pre-moderated forum and there may be a delay between you starting a thread and the thread being visible.

    Main Forum Rules all apply. Read those if you're not already familiar with them.

    RULES FOR THIS SECTION

    1. NO SPAM. NO PROMOTIONS. IF IT'S YOUR FIRST POST ON THIS FORUM DO NOT START A THREAD IN THIS SECTION - YOU COULD GET BANNED (though you can post in an existing thread).
    2. You need a minimum post count of 10 before you can start a thread in here to sell your site (unless you have my prior approval) and you need a minimum of 50 posts to sell your service. No repeat threads on the same topic are allowed.
    3. Relevant links allowed in posts for the present, but that may change.
    4. Spend some time reading other posts in this section to get a feel for what's acceptable. You have to disclose domain name, earnings (even if $0) and provide other information buyers are likely to want - like traffic. Exceptions to this are only at the discretion of the mods.
    5. If in doubt whether your thread will pass muster, contact an admin or mod to ask first. I make several exceptions to the 10 post rule if you have a site for sale that's likely to be of interest to members here.

    ================================
    I'd like to add that while this section is open for regular members to post their selections I've been posting a few opportunities that I believe members here may be interested in.

    These come from numerous sources and some of the opportunities I list here are exclusive to this site. In case anyone's wondering how I get them I thought I'd explain.

    1. I follow numerous sites and feeds and one or two of them throw up the occasional gem. Many of you may not bother with a lot of those listing sites and forums because it's very rare that anything good comes up. So if I find an interesting site or two there it will hopefully be helpful to tip you off.

    2. From my activities in various forums like Sitepoint, Webmasterworld and elsewhere, and the tons I've prattled on about valuation, due diligence etc., I get people approaching me via PM for help with selling their site. If I have their permission to disclose the URL, I'll do so. Otherwise I may just post a teaser and if one of you is interested enough you can contact me via PM and I'll put you in touch. There is no charge to either party.

    3. experienced-people.co.uk and other sites I own get a lot of traffic from SEs and other places for terms like "how to sell my site". Some of those people contact me via email or the form I have on my site. They have usually not listed their sale anywhere so you're getting first pick at the cherry.

    4. My valuation sites where people who run website valuations have the option to provide contact details if they are looking to sell.

    5. Other ways.

    If you have any tips for locations I need to monitor, please post here or drop me a note.

    =========================

    IMPORTANT

    Please do not ask me for my opinion on sites I tip you off to. I'm not giving off-the-cuff opinions on the site, the seller, the valuation etc. except what's mentioned in the thread itself. If you need help with due diligence there are some members here who may consider doing it for you.

    Hey Clinton, you might consider sticky-ing these rules.

    There's been a lot of spam in this section. All offenders have been banned as none replied to my PM to say they've now familiarised themselves with what's expected.

    Main culprits are first time posters who haven't read the rules. I've made it stricter now and I'm not going to bother sending offending members a PM pointing them to the rules.

    It's now a straight permanent ban if your first post is starting a thread with spam/your fantastic offer/your great prices/your must see link. If it was a genuine mistake grovel to a mod to plead your case. Just trying to open a new account may end up with that being banned by association.

    This post is a reference post that I hope to send people to in future.

    1. I sometimes start threads here about sites that are available for sale. I have no connection with those sites (unless I specifically state so). See the OP for information on where I get these leads.

    2. If you're a member who doesn't qualify to post your own site for sale in this section you can drop me a PM with the details and I may choose to list it for you under my name. Your site would need to have some significant traffic, earnings or other attraction before I'd consider it worthy of listing. There is no fee for this.

    3. If I post a site that I found on ebizvaluations.com (a valuation site that I own) please note that the earnings figures there were provided by the seller and could be vastly overquoted. However, other stats like the backlinks, PR, DMOZ entry, age of site etc., are figures that have been computed fairly reliably. Do your own diligence on these sites but bear in mind that they may be a lot more affordable than the headline figures suggest. Seller's contact details should be on the ebizvaluations page I link you to.

    4. If you have enough posts here to qualify for listing your site yourself, please note the rules and that you have to disclose the URL. However, I may post opportunities here (that I derive no personal benefit from posting) without disclosing the URL if I feel it would be in the interest of members. If you wish to be put in contact with the seller, please follow the instruction in my post to the letter. I'm tired of replying to people's PMs to ask them what the hell thread they are talking about. Provide a link to the relevant thread and whatever else I asked for in my post, please.

    5. My standard disclaimer is now produced here: As usual, this is not a recommendation and I make no profit from bringing these to your attention or putting you in touch with the sellers. Check the books and do your own valuation and due diligence. As usual, I don't compete with you on any prospective site I spot and list here.

    As per the time stamp on my edit, I fixed the error on seeing delta4's post. Thanks for letting me know.
