Sellers Insisting On PM For Communication

Look at this auction. Even if I was interested in the website being sold, I'd be disturbed by a seller who insisted on communicating only by PM and deleted all comments. If someone asks a valid question about sensitive information, I'm sure the seller would appear in a better light if they left the comment in place and then explained why they would respond via PM.

Is is just me, or does ruthlessly deleting comments like this look really bad?

very bad. Instantly makes you think he's lying about the profits. Of course it could all be kosher there, but answering every question properly on the sale inspires much more trust in buyers.

    It looks terrible.

If you have ever been able to read some of the comments left before he is able to delete them, you would see why he doesn't want them to remain public. I assume that the reason he insists on communicating by PM only is that there are so many holes that someone can poke in his auction listings, plus he doesn't appear to have the best reputation, and he probably feels that making that request up front looks better than having to delete all the hard questions and complaints that he knows are coming.

According to discussions I have seen about this Flippa power seller when he made the mistake of listing a site for sale where he didn't have control over the comments made, the earnings that he lists are based on other similar sites, not the actual site for sale, and his money back guarantees are written in a way that they are almost impossible to collect on. I'd also be suspicious because the fact that he has notarized statements doesn't mean anything and his offer to sign a non-compete could be useless if it is too broadly or narrowly written.

Bidders must submit a $100 deposit via Paypal before final approval of their bid.
    He can't be serious!

I've priced this ready to go business....This is NOT one of those cheap "cookie cutter", or "template" sites
Flippa should have banned him by now, not least for the headline of "$500 PER MONTH PROFIT! AUTOPILOT INCOME! NOTARIZED STATEMENT!"

It seems to work for him, he's sold over 9k worth of sites on Flippa.

Of course, with his secrets and the such that means that he could be earning 60-100k a year off those sites instead, yet he chooses to instead spread the wealth for a small up front fee.

    What a saint!

Where did you get the $9K figure, tke71709?

In his profile I see that he listed 89 sites and sold 29 (33%). But those are all apparent sales ... as I keep going on about. We don't know how many buyers completed the transaction. He received feedback on only 7 sales and left feedback on only 5, the last one being about half a year ago.

Sellers of these turnkeys rely a lot on feedback to give them credibility ...so pursue it diligently. My guess - 29 sales that Flippa probably counts in their "total sales", but only 5 of them actually completed. Out of 89 listed, he sold 5 - a sub 6% success rate.

If only 17% of apparent sales go through, and you extrapolated that across Flippa, the $30 million of claimed business done in the marketplace dwindles to about $5M of completed sales spread over the last few years.

I was just looking at the deals that according to Flippa went through, I'm not going into any hardcore exploring expeditions on this guy.

Heck, Flippa says he has a 15 Trust rating, that's good enough for me!

// ok I went back and took a look at some of his recent sales, most of them have different names on the whois than his own so I'm assuming that they actually sold, one thing I did notice from looking at the whois is that it seems that women are more likely to buy these sites than men (keep in mind the small sample size).

Maybe women respond better to or put more faith in "guarantees" then men?
