How NOT to sell a website

So I was browsing Flippa a little while ago and clicked on the "Ended Unsold" tab. I figured that it would be worth a look, as some seller might decide that s/he doesn't want to go to the trouble to relist a site, and I may be able to find a deal. A longshot I know, but it paid off. Sorta....

As I scrolled quickly down the list, skimming through the turnkey websites and other crap listings, my eyes lighted on a site that had closed with a max bid of 500 bucks, with a PR2 and Alexa of 87K, being sold by a user named "cvelkins01". Wondering what the heck was wrong with the site, I clicked on the listing and read through the details until I got to the comments:

Is it just me or is your site down?

Yes, the site is down, too busy to deal with it.
    LOL!!

Way to inspire faith there cvelkins01! Did you just lose EVERY ounce of motivation all at once or did it happen slowly, over time?

    original auction here

    *****************UPDATE**********************

I happened to look back at the auction just for the heck of it, and noticed that it had been listed previously here and had sold with a BIN of 15k. So somehow that site went from "Oh my God, I must have it!", to "Yes, the site is down, too busy to deal with it."

Am I missing something here? How does a site go from $15,000 to worthless in less than a year and a half?

Oh, and another thing, who in the world pays $15,000 for a site when the seller DELETES 2/3 of the comments?

    I am so confused.....
