A direct link out from every second blog post?

Free beers??!! Especially on a friday, or actually - any other evening for those hard working regulars. Some good gems hidden in the vault here.

On a side note: do you mods/regulars ever meetup in person for a tipple/chat etc, or is that too old school?

I realise there's a wide geographic pool here, but just thinking out loud - that could be interesting.

Apologies if that went off track! Zzzz.

crabfoot, I don't know if more links is the best solution.

Mods here don't seem to be motivated by links ....and that's a good thing, IMO. In fact, current mods hardly do any linking, most don't use links in the signatures and even those that do would still be mods here if there was no signature linking i.e. they aren't here for the links. So maybe my previous idea wasn't that good.

What I wouldn't mind doing is paying for an annual meetup and party (though the geography bit gets in the way).

Anyway, my thanks to ScottJ for modding these boards and I look forward to him becoming a mod again when time permits him. In the meanwhile a hearty welcome to our two new mods: Kay and KenW3. I'm delighted to have them on board.

    Thanks for the welcome.

An EP party and meet-up would be a great idea. I'm happy to provide a venue and I'd do you some great food. As Clinton says, it's the geography that's the problem.

Why can't someone invent a transporter beam like they have in Star Trek?

Special offer! If someone can invent a transporter beam that works they can be an EP mod.

    Small print:
You have to invent it before next Saturday.
I have no authority to make anyone a mod.

They don't do much blogging either ... whatever, a direct in-blog link is a better incentive than a sig link, because it can be on-subject and relevant to Gargyl. Also, blogging about your latest project is a good way to get focused sometimes. For that reason, I write blog posts that I never publish.

I'm a rocker, dearie, so I'm keeping the secrets of my transporter to myself (yes, it does involve big red vans and aeroplanes, before you ask).

Thank you very much for the welcome. I only wish I had found EP sooner, but am absolutely thrilled to be here.

I am much too new to have fully grasped all of the complex personal interactions and underlying currents, so I will have to tread carefully for a long time There is an amazing amount of experience here. Open and easy exchange of knowledge for the benefit of others, with the level of expertise demonstrated on EP, is something I never expected to exist on the net unless there was substantial cost involved.

If I make a mistake, please tell me. If anyone has any suggestions, or I can help with anything, please write.

Congrats Kay and Ken I reckon you both will do an excellent job.

Kay believe it or not but they have actually transported light so transporting humans is probably not going to happen this year, it is 1 step closer to reality.

Crabfoot, I got the impression that you are allowed to link out in your blog posts as long as the link is helpful to EP visitors and you don't go on a great big self-promotion fest. We've got plenty of forum rules, maybe we should have some blog rules too. (yee Haa! More rules!) I'm sure that Clinton has nothing better to do.

LOL, I thought about mods and rockers too. I sort of tended to the mods side - mostly because my mother chose my clothes for me.
