    Greetings from Alabama

Hello Clinton and gang. I've been lurking for several months, reading as many posts as possible. I'm brand new to Int. Marketing. It is a new world to me and I find so many voices calling out different things: go the adsense route, go the Affiliate Mkt. route, go the blog route.

I have no preference, I just want to make money and a lot of it. I know it won't happen over night. As long as it is legal, ethical, and fun- I'm all in.

What I need is a path to follow until I find my way. Have any of you on the Forum written something that I can follow -or do you recommend some resource? I'm looking for a tried and true "Recipe for Success". As you know, there are tons of them out there, but which voice to follow? This Forum, obviously, has some high quality, Experienced People on it and I welcome your suggestions.

This question may have already been answered and if so, point me in the right direction on the Forum.

Clinton- I'm eagerly awaiting Part III of your personal story.

I've got some ramblings on assorted stuff to do with running/developing/monetising websites here. A few members here have got signature links you can follow too, if you haven't seen them already.

Many people have success creating content sites and monetising them with adverts (e.g Adsense, Chitika etc). That's probably the simplest route to take if you're starting from scratch. Whichever way you decide to make money, the first thing you need are visitors to your site - the more the merrier.

A quicker way to start making money with a website is to buy one that's already established and making money. You need to be careful you don't get taken for a ride by the seller though.

The scary (and neat) thing about IM is that there is no one path, there are so many ways to make money on the Internet that if you try to learn them all your head will explode. This also means that no one way of doing things is saturated, so you can take many different paths (SEO, Social Marketing, Forums, PPC, etc...) to get to the same thing (e.g. an adsense click, an affiliate sale, a lead).

Read, read and read some more and then decide what methods appeal to you and then a pick a vertical/offer/revenue generation technique and apply those lessons. You'll fail and fail and some more but if you're smart and dedicated enough then eventually you will succeed (I do honestly believe that).

Thanks all. Hooperman: I would love to buy an existing, profitable website that has a future. I have, of course, checked out Flippa many times and other brokers that sell websites/businesses- but I'm like a lost ball in high weeds knowing a good website from a bad one.

I am a member of The Keyword Academy- excellent forum and I'm learning a lot. I would love to mentor under someone- for a reasonable fee, of course. When ya'll got started in IM, did you just jump in and start building websites and learn as you went? I like Clinton's approach about working smarter. I don't mind hard work and I have the time, but I am seeking to reduce the learning curve.

    Thanks tke

Whatever way you choose to go, you will find people have jumped in and learned - mostly they learn that they shouldn't have jumped in, but a few have made significant money by instinctively doing all the right things.

How is the Keyword Academy getting around the loss of the old Google keyword tool? I took a look at some of their material lately, and it all seemed to be still referring to that now-withdrawn tool, so I didn't investigate further.

Take a look at this thread on Acorn Domains -
    http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/mini-s...rn-1-week.html

It is now old info, and it is loaded with fluff, but there are some good points in there.

So pick one or two sites and contact the people here to help. I've just made a new post in that thread about paying for DD services.

My advice: Find a site or two that you like and choose one of the people in the above thread to work with and assist with the due diligence. You can learn a lot from working with someone who has done a few DDs in the past and has bought a few sites that have turned out successful.

Thank you, good advice. I just posted here an auction on Flippa I was looking at and when I hit the send button, poof it disappeared!

Crabfoot: They are working on a new video that uses the new Google keyword tool. I have found TKA has some really good basic information that is very helpful to a newbie like me. The Forums are also good.
