One Incentive to Make Your Listing More Attractive

Hey everyone, I thought I'd share one piece of advice for everyone...

I've found that I am able to sway uncertain buyers by adding a sentence that goes something like this....

"I will direct and help the new owner for the first week (however long you are willing to help) after the sale."

Of course, you have to be willing to actually do this. But remember, many buyers don't really know what they're getting themselves into when buying a website, especially if it's a premium website. Whether the new owner needs your help or not, by saying you'll help during the early days gives potential buyers a sense of comfort.

I just thought I'd share my opinion, it seems that not many listings mention anything about help after the sale, but it's definitely something I would recommend. This may be all an uncertain buyer needs to place a bid.

What do you guys think? Has anybody else offered their help after a sale, if so, how did it go?

ztyler90, such an offer of help would indeed be of use to those buyers who, as you say, don't really know what they're getting themselves into.

Personally, I don't have the time to help so if I were selling a $20K site and I had the smallest suspicion the buyer was a bit on the raw side, I'd drop him like a hot potato. I've done it numerous times. I love helping people who have questions about buying/selling sites but I dread being stuck in a promise of open-ended, support monkey role for the x months after sale.

But I see that first timers getting into buying sites may find this offer of support reassuring. Would you differentiate between support on understanding how your site worked and support with general webmaster skills such as learning HTML?
