    All our problems are over!

Yes, the world is right again! I went on a search after I had ANOTHER instance of losing form data and came up with this.

It's a program called Lazarus and it automatically saves form data in a private, 2048-bit RSA/256-bit AES hybrid encrypted *cough*Clinton*cough* folder on your local computer. If you lose form data, you can recover it!

    Enjoy!

I'm moving this thread to Rules and News.

This seems like a good workaround for forums like ours where people sometimes type up long replies only to lose them because the "security token" has expired (whatever that means).

Anyone else tried this or something like it?

to my mind it is overkill
it is only necessary with badly coded web pages - a decently coded web page can detect your activity, including keystrokes etc. and can therefore refresh session data etc. (sending heartbeat etc.)
    sounds fiddly

Like Clinton, I think this could be useful to clumsy people like me who hit the "Back" button while on a radio button, or do like S4nt0s did, and hit the wrong button, losing the essay he had typed.

It has happened to me several times and it really, really p***es me off! The WORST is when I highlight my text and hit CTRL+C to copy the text to the clipboard (just in case the page errors) and accidentally hit SHIFT+C instead. It types over all my hard work and leaves me with nothing more than rage, curse words, and a big "C". Argh!

Trust me, it's happened plenty times to me right here. I keep threads open in various tabs expecting to come back to them later to post. Sometimes that later is too much later and vBulletin makes no exception for the fact that I'm the admin.

This tool is a nice find. I'll definitely check it out.

If you're using Firefox, you can type ctrl+z to undo typing over your text.

    Wow. Just, wow.

I don't know whether to love you or hate you right now...

Omg how did I miss that...

    *facepalm*

By the way, I have been using Rockmelt for a while now and if anyone would like to try it out, then feel free to let me know and I can send you an invite without you having to wait for them to send you one. It's pretty useful if you have a Facebook acct. The reason that I mention this here is Lazarus works with Rockmelt too.
