FYI, everyone: I'm going ahead and changing this user name from Cupid Stunt to Marc_L (as Marc is taken)

While we're on the subject, I might mention that I don't use my real name anywhere unless I can help it, because I do not want attention from a former employer (currently hiding in the Lebanon, to avoid criminal charges if caught entering UK).

But Cupid Stunt is a name in the BEST POSSIBLE TASTE, isn't it?

WTH if I was looking for a new name I could have picked Betty Swollocks ...

The C word is about as offensive a word as you will ever find in the English language (that is not racially derogatory). You use that word where I am from and you better be willing to get into a fist fight to back it up.

You are being silly and antipodean - yet again we find a difference in acceptable English.
What you don't appreciate is that Cupid Stunt was a personalisation used in a comedy show by the disc jockey and personality Kenny Everett, who did everything in the "best possible taste". Kenny Everett was the UK equivalent of Duffo, except that he didn't make records to upset the rest of the world, or wear clingfilm. Go look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLBW8L198GQ and moderate your opinion, you winker (misprnit). That's Cupid Stunt talking to Sir Michael Parkinson, who is very interesting and a pillock of society ... you really should run a web search before you start casting nasturtiums, makes you look like a pelargonium or a rhododendron - big, green, with pink bits.

The "c" word is cruelly treated - my wife has one of those things, and I find it very interesting. If you don't, you must be an Australian looking for a sheep - seeking the alternative.

tke is Canadian, but other wise a very entertaining post.

I've had a 'c*nts' list since I discovered c*ntscorner a few years back (since morfed into Holymoly.com) and laughed my head off for a couple of hours. It's not as funny as it used to be I don't think, shame on the c*nts.

Simply presenting my country's take on the word, but feel free to press forward with personal insults and attacks.

I must have missed the part where I insulted the OP or cast aspersions of any type, I simply commented that his name would be offensive to some and unprofessional for a forum of this calibre. I never asked him to change his name or suggested that he should have to, either in this thread or in the private mod section where this was discussed.

If you used that word to describe a piece of your wife's anatomy where I come from you could rest assured that you would have to be looking for sheep for company because you would not be seeing your wife naked for months (after she punched you in the face).

    Where's the fire extinguisher!

I suppose it depends on the individual persons look on the world, etc. etc. Some people would find it super offensive and hang you for it, whilst others will say it willy nilly. I personally don't find it offensive as such, me and my friends joke a lot and call eachother all sorts of names, including the c word. BUT like you have said tke, where you're from it would be a very bad word to use. Different places, different people. Nothing wrong with that. I would be respectful and not call it to anybody else (other than friends who know it's a joke), unless I got into a flying rage... I'm not responsible then.

    Relajar todos!

tke71709 would have known that as it did come up in a discussion we had elsewhere about this name.

Anyway may I remind everyone of Rule 4. We need to also be careful that what we say in jest may sound clever and funny in one part of the world but extremely offensive elsewhere. And I don't want to p*ss the Australians off, not at least till I get back to the UK.
