    Valuation = 10 x monthly proft

    Here's one for all the "experts" who peddle the 10 or 12 x monthly profit "rule".

    Bloggingtips apparently sold for $60K. Yaro made an appearance in the comments and part of me thinks this may have been to inspire the bidding and part of me thinks he won the site.

    Either way, the selling price turned out to be ~ 60x.

    Yaro is too savvy to be commenting in the thread if he was really looking to buy

    As a buyer of sites, I have to respectfully ask you to peddle that rule as much as possible please.

    Wow.. nice! I talked to the owner through another venue, before he started a flippa auction and didn't think it'd get any bids. Min was 15k, but with profit around 1.1k, blogs need to be updated frequently and usually go for 10 months and below. This one is of course different, great domain and well established site. Nice sale

    The seller claims that he does no work but if you read on to see how the blog earns money you'll realise that he has spent a lot of time to generate those earnings. Just the paid reviews - and hunting out paid reviews once he terminated the relationship with the ad agency - all look very time consuming.

    I bought a few turnkey sites from that seller a few years ago, all very low value stuff. He was a gentleman to deal with and most helpful with every transaction. I have to admit when I first saw that site listed, I didn't think it would get the 60K. Based on my positive experiences with the seller in the past, I'm happy that I was wrong and I hope the deal works out very well for both buyer and seller.

    That's good for the seller, but I'm interested to see what happens with the site going forward, because that is a huge multiple for a blog. The domain is worth a lot, and maybe someone who wanted to sell some consulting products or services could do better with the traffic than the current owner did selling banner ads, links, and paid reviews.

    I could see this site being more useful to support an existing blogging network, for example adding to the b5 network. Then it would make sense to me that the buyer BINed it at $60K as the potential there is greater than for someone who just wanted a site making $1K/month.

    I think the fact that it's on a good, premium looking domain gives it extra credibility and makes it much more valuable for the buyers.

    The blog would be perfect for someone who has a product to sell to the niche.

    He sent a tweet out yesterday that he was outbid.
