Hi Clinton - as you mentioned, this is a very broad search using standard publicity terminology which will return listings in no way related to LaunchPressRelease.com. The ones that are related have been removed some time ago from Flippa.

The specifics of launchpressrelease.com aside, I’d encourage any experienced buyers to take the few seconds to report websites that they think are looking to deceive new website buyers (regardless of whether you’re on Flippa, WSB, DP marketplaces etc). This is a great way to make the website buying world a better place and reduce distressing purchase experiences such as the ones had here by Marc_L and rmills.

Speaking for Flippa, our support team gets onto these reports as a priority. Added to that, we tend to be very generous with credits to our users who actively contribute to a safer buying environment…

    Sounds good to me!

Could you explain a bit more about this reward program? OK, it's not a program... what I mean is could you tell us some more about the type of listings you'd like reported?

To find other places where he's advertising you can do a search for the phone number he published in his websitebroker listing: "310-903-6747". He is advertising on at least a couple of other website listing sites.

Andrew, when did this policy change?

I know that myself and other members here reported numerous auctions in the past, but after repeatedly being ignored, seeing delays of days before receiving any response from Flippa support, and watching obviously fraudulent listings continue, I know I gave up, and I believe the others did as well. The only way we were able to get a reasonably fast response was if we commented here about the scam auction and the slow response from Flippa support.

Also, some compensation for doing Flippa's job for them is a step in the right direction, because I received absolutely nothing for my time (not that I expected to). This might get me to take the time to report the scams I see again.

Good question. I would personally define this as
    • listings that do not involve the sale/purchase of the domain being advertised or are otherwise offering a service rather than a specific website/domain (as with launchpresslease.com)
    • anything that requires the buyer to purchase further goods/services from a specific third party (eg buy this site but you need to host it with my <insert affiliate hosting name here>)
    • listings where the seller is continually deleting public comments containing reasonable questions (eg deleted "how does your site make $10,000 without having any users?")

I realize there is a massive grey area on this in terms of puffery v false claims (eg "this site has the potential to earn significant dollars over time" vs "this site is going to earn $10,000 next month") however feel these are best addressed directly to the seller in their auction comments where buyers can make their own judgement.

Just to be clear, there is no official reward program but we do have a number of active users who regularly report problem listings/sellers and we reward them in kind.

Benitez17 - no change in policy here but we cannot guarantee that all listing reports will result in the listing being suspended. The lead time is typically due to us liaising with the seller to address any concerns for less extreme offenses.

Thanks Marc - JKW has been suspended.

I understand that not all reports are going to result in a ban of the seller or termination of the listing, but in the past my experience was less than satisfactory. Thanks for taking the time to respond, and I'll probably give it another shot.

Just click on the "other websites by this seller" drop down menu at the top of the pitch. All based around the same model with different interfaces. He has it well stitched up!

    Launchpressrelease scam

I was searching the internet for some sort of income, as a newbie i spent some time reading and researching various avenues until i came accross website broker and read the pitch by this guy "matt smith". Sounded too good to be true and i should have stopped right there, but was eager and wanted to run before i could walk. I bought into this in Sept 2010. Paid my $495 (for my own domain & pre-built site) and recieved two client domain lists to purchase and upload for aging. 70 domains in all. After the initial 40/5 day period were the domains would be aged enough to be sold, and i would recieve my earnings after transferring the domains i'd purchased on his guidance to the client. Nothing, then first excuse... 3 months later and excuse after excuse after excuse and ignoring my messages. Finally, i was told you can have your initial fee returned ($495) as the client(s) had fallen through and not purchased the domains BUT he would get a new buyer late december if memory is correct, still nothing. I accepted re-payment on the $495, but thats not sorting out the problem that he advised me on the domains to buy and he didnt or couldnt get them sold. Im stuck with 70 domains that seem useless to me. My head is saying cut your losses and run with regards getting my $495 back, but im also out a few hundred dollars on the mixed lot of .com/.info domains he advised me to buy, coupled with my time he has wasted!! I have tried making contact again but received a postmaster notification failure on his email address, which means the email address dont exist anymore or i have in some way been blocked. Cant hold it against me for being suspicious. Im not going to let this be until i get some sort of closure. See below a link to a post made last year also with a similar problem to myself. I found this during the 3 months chasing this "matt smith" which could be his name or not!

    http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question...4102033AAg4KCE

My question, is anyone familiar with this business or had experience with this guy before?
I had the same thing happen to me. I bought into this technology in October. I bought 510 domains and I am out a total of 3 grand. I have had some terrible run ins with matt on the phone. I say we all pull together and file a class action lawsuit against this guy. I am sure a lawyer would take this case on pro bono. Let me know if you are interested. E-mail me at <snip>

    Launchpressrelease Update IMPORTANT

Hey you guys! I just wanted to update you on my launchpressrelease journey. I contacted Matt Smith about selling my 510 domains. We had issues obtaining pagerank on these domains due to google not updating their PR in over 9 months! This was by no means Matts fault. He had PR written in the contract that he and the domain buyer agreed on. Google's inability to update PR was in no way any reflection on Matts ability to sell off the domains. The guy already has his hands full and now he had to deal with Pagerank issues. Most people go out of their way to please clients and this is exactly was Matt does. He worked with this buyer day in and day out to settle the pagerank issue and in return Matt sold my domains. Matt went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that everyone was pleased and that the sale went off without a hitch. He is a very busy man who is trying to run an extraordinary co-op business. If he doesn't respond to phone calls and e-mails right away; it is because he is swamped with work. In due time he returns everyone's calls and concerns. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me. <snip>
