My background...

I recently sold my shares in an digital media agency to my partner. I've got a little knowledge in PPC and SEO. I haven't focused much on anything else and know very little about monetization. I'm pretty limited in my web skills.

I'm hoping to use the proceeds of my share sale to purchase some good web based business. My ideal target would be a site that doesn't need much technical work but could benefit from some general TLC. Hoping to make purchases in the $10-$30K range to start until I gain a little confidence.

I'd be happy to offer any SEO or SEM advice and would love to learn about monetization.

I believe what hooperman asked was not in reference to finding anything on this site, but a direct response to what you said here. Have you found any potential sites to purchase which meet the criteria that you are looking for?

Short answer not yet. My main issue is with scale, small sites with small income requiring a little maintenance sounds good in theory. In practice it becomes overwhelming. I'm experienced managing teams and I'm confident I could probably squeeze some profits using a small team to run a few thousands of sites. But that's a lot of effort and risk for little reward.

For larger purchases, I'm having a little trouble pulling the trigger. I'll likely make my first purchase through a broker or from a highly trusted community member.

Sorry, I actually meant the same thing. The buy sell forum here didn't have much. I'm not sure if there are other sites for sale in the private section.

In the meantime I've been sorting through the junk at flippa to find reasonable sites. Any other auction sites worth looking at that don't have all the template stuff?

Finding something decent can be hard work. I would imagine it's easier if you've got lots of contacts, though.
