    Flippa's A List

In terms of the sorts of sites you seem to be interested in, you may want to consider joining the A-List where we send around a few of the top end sites being listed on Flippa each week. You can check out the archive and/or join at https://flippa.com/a-list (a blatant product plug but very relevant to this discussion!).

Is that a new service, Andrew? I don't recall seeing it earlier (but then I don't visit Flippa much these days)

A service for buyers? Excellent, but forgive my inner cynic - I've been dealing with SP/Flippa for a long time now (though not you personally) - can you assure us that there will be no charging sellers to feature them in this "newsletter" i.e. there isn't an angle there for you to make money? And that if you or any of the newsletter authors (you state that there's more than just Justin from Flipfilter) derive a benefit from the sellers to feature them you'll disclose it as per the latest legal requirements in the UK and the new FTC rules in the US.

Other than that I'm going to subscribe and look forward to seeing how it develops. I've often thought of creating just such a newsletter myself with selections from Flippa, my own feeds, highlights from the website brokers' newsletters and other locations that sell sites. But keep yours running and it's a serious disincentive for me to launch one.

I'd say the marketing guy at Flippa has some work to do if you haven't yet heard of the A-List ;-)

There are no immediate plans to charge for inclusion in the A-List as it is essentially a buyer service. It has only just begun so our focus right now is to hone the product and gauge interest. We are running this as a free trial though we do hold plans to charge a regular subscription fee for the service. We're not intending on this being a service for every conceivable website buyer - primarily those with a budget beyond the $10K price point who do not necessarily have the time to regularly peruse Flippa.

FlipFilter have been very transparent with us when there is even the most tenuous conflict of interest. We've yet to include a listing where this occurs in the A-List. I do expect we will be doing so at some stage at which point we will indeed be calling out any possible associations as part of the listing review. The often frank critique of listings in the A-List should further put to rest any concerns that this is a puff piece for sellers.

Got my copy of the A-List today. Well done as usual, Justin (flipfilter). As I said when you first started, mate, you'll go a long way. The analysis you make in the emails is top notch.

One thing I noticed. Whenever Flippa mentions the A-List (and even in every A-List email they send out) they say
    valued at $100 each month!
Is the plan to start charging for this then, Andrew?

    Thanks Clinton.
Glad you like it and totally agree on your confirmation of Justin's terrific work.
We're really trialling the concept at this stage. There are few directions for us to take and one of them is a paid model to recover costs/effort incurred. The value statement is there to allow us to do this without hopefully coming as a shock to the existing subscriber base - regardless of the ultimate price point.

Funny about that. I was going to do something exactly like your A-list, but offer it on this site for free. In fact, there's a very old thread about this somewhere.

I didn't think there was a commercial value to someone picking out a few $10K+ sites and commenting on them. Couldn't users simply set filters at Flippa itself to find the sites? The type of people spending $10K+ on sites aren't going to make a purchase based on Justin's quick look.

But if it moves to a charging model where do you see the majority of the value, in the selection of sites to list or in the commentary?

Is Justin getting too busy? The list keeps slipping, this week it's two days past due and I haven't received it yet.

I got it just now. I guess Flippa might take a few days to approve it?

Just got my latest A-list report in the email. I'm really enjoying these write-ups and hope they continue in the future (though I wouldn't be willing to pay $100 for the report).
Makes for some inspirational reading if nothing else.
