    Domain Question

A question I'm not sure has an answer, but I wonder if anyone with experience here can help.

Given the option to register domains for 'main keyword' I can choose

    1) mainkeyworduk.com
    2) mainkeyworduk.co.uk (it's a UK only service)

    3) mainkeyword.org
    4) mainkeyword.net

Now I'm sure it probably does depend entirely on the SEO, however all things being equal, would there be, in your opinion, any advantage to going for either domain?

If it's a service targeted at UK users I'd go for the .co.uk. Not mainkeyworduk.co.uk, but mainkeyword.co.uk. And it's not just because of SEO either.

If that wasn't available I'd take the .org or .net. If it were a charity, company or other organisation I'd choose the .org even if the organisation name wasn't Mainkeyword Ltd

I find mainkeyworduk.com very artificial. It says you missed the boat on the domain reg. Even mainkeyword.info would appeal to me more than mainkeyworduk.com.

This is very important - if you can't find a domain which has a positive benefit for your website / business, you should still be able to find one which is neutral...
this pattern I believe is actually negative and should be avoided at all costs...

If the UK is part of the business model such as UK Franchisee's or UK Offices then I can't see a problem using it. Tho I would go straight .co.uk if I could. Otherwise the .net is always the best option in my opinion.
