We removed this listing as soon as it came to our attention.

Looks like there's significant demand there from our users. Maybe we should just relax those restrictions.
I thought it was a moral issue, Matt always seemed very adamant against adult sites. If Flippa did open the door I could send them some sellers whom I currently send to places like GFY.
It's a restriction we've had in place since before I started working here. I believe the motivation is to ensure that Flippa is not associated with the "dodgy" end of the market. Many sellers may not want to be associated with adult sites, for instance.
It's interesting that our UserVoice has 224 votes to allow adult sites and 204 votes against. To quote a comment there:
"I have potential customers from church and the local school district that visit here to see sites I have up for auction and they also broswe the entire site. I'm pretty sure that some of those customers would not return if thay stumbled upon that crap."
That may be true, but I think if one has to opt-in to see them that shouldn't be a problem. It's an interesting thought. Would you have problems listing a site beside porn sites?
I've never understood why thieves were allowed but not fornicators. What makes them more honourable? At least with the porn sites we're talking consenting adults.
If a seller wants to sell a porn site, so be it. I agree with 3Six. If "thieves" are allowed to put up sites for auction that may not be legitimate, there should be room for porn sites that are legitimate. I also like the opt-in idea. Perhaps there would be a different section of the site that just caters to adult auctions...

Hey guys, I'm new here so I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this. I don't buy or sell porn sites but there should be no reason for restrictions IF they are "behind closed doors" and not immediately open to the public. All Flippa would have to do is set it up similar to how eBay handles it. You have an "Adult Sites" section but when you click on it, you go to a page that says you agree that you are 18 years old and that the material you're going to see is adult in nature...blah, blah, blah. After you enter your date of birth and agree to the consent, you go to the Adult Sites for sale. Flippa is leaving a lot of money on the table if they don't do it
