I got the same email and some sites have text only for good ctr, so today I am changing the site to text & image, will see how it goes for a week or two.

First full day after switching and my CTR is slightly down and eCPM ever so slightly up for a Monday comparing the last few.
Wow I just checked mine for a full day (yesterday as we are like 18 hours ahead of google) it's down a bit but for the 3 hours of today its through the roof. $81.18 eCPM boy I wish that would stay like that it's about 8 times what I normally get. Probably will wait for a full week or two before making any real comparisons.
Scott, can you a/b split test them to get more accurate results?
It takes Google a few days to work out which image ads work best on your site. I wouldn't chop and change too often and I'd try the image ads for at least a week or 20,000 impressions whichever comes sooner.

I plan to leave it on at least 1 week and then will see if it's paying higher/lower, 20,000 impression tho was quite some time ago lol.
Are 'Media Rich' and 'Image' ads on Google the same thing?
If they are, that's fine, it's just terminology that I didn't get.
If they are not, then how to I promote them (all I have in my Adsense setup is 'text' or 'image' or 'both')?
Thanks, Magnus.
I think that is what google call images now. And the link only shows the word images. But the message to me stated Images / Media Rich adverts.
Image/rich = images, videos, flash, HTML, retargeted etc.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to break down what you allow/disallow. All or nothing.

Excellent, cheers.
Interesting stats.
I've got mostly text... but might have a stab at images too.
I know that I have seen one or two sites that have two 300x250 blocks side-by-side with one always text and one always images... could be a good strategy...
