Anyone get hit by the latest Namecheap DNS outage?

Namecheap has been experiencing a major outage of their DNS services for most of the day, which knocked a few of my sites out of commission until I was able to figure out what was going on and correct the issue.

It was caused by (yet another) DDoS attack on their nameservers, which they are supposedly getting under control at this time.

Was anyone else impacted by this attack? Who are you using for DNS hosting?

I'm not sure what was so unhelpful about this thread, but you're welcome.

There's a big discussion about this Namecheap problem at WebHostingTalk. We've had our own DDoS attack and have discussed DDoS mitigation in this thread and in the VIP Lounge.

What's the best way for us to respond in DNS situations like this? What do members here use as a Plan B for their DNS? Do you even have a Plan B?

GoDaddy also has free DNS hosting, so I have been setting up DNS there as well and using them as secondary nameservers.

It seems like NameCheap gets targeted with an attack like this every few months, so it might not be the best option for a DNS host.
