Following Up Alleged "Sales" on Flippa - Interesting (yet suspicous) response

I saw a decent site for sale that was purchased on a "Buy It Now".

(if you're quick and the BIN is low, I've seen some nice stuff go within an hour or two of listing)

It was selling a brand new eBook that because of the domain name and some basic SEO was getting some claimed traffic/sales. BIN was about 10x revenue, I suspected some product price elasticity, could implement a squeeze page and autoresponder sequence to follow up and could re-write the copy and split test and hopefully end up with something that would pay itself off pretty quick.

First response to my email about confirming site sale:

    "Sorry, site was sold"

and then about a week later:

"If you can offer a higher price maybe I can make a deal to get it back. "

    Hhhmmmmmm

That's a new one to me.

I get follow ups fairly often on auctions that I didn't win because the winner of the auction didn't follow through with the sale, and they would like to try and work out a sale, but I have never had someone who sold a site for less than I was willing to pay offer to try and get the site back and resell it to me.

    Nice name, by the way.
