Do you think the seller misled you about the site during the sales process, or are all of these issues related to the transfer problems?

How did you pay for the site, and where did you buy it?

You have lost your money there is no way to retrieve western union deposits. If the traffic was dumped that low I would say he was either paying for it or using some other method. Your only option is either to forget about it or build up the site yourself. If it is an autoblog you might also have trouble with updating the plugin as I assume the seller might not have paid for developer rights and if he pulls his code you might lose it altogether.

Sorry about the bad news. If you are interested in the subject and really didn't pay to much then you can always build up the site and start making money from it. I have blogs regularly turning over $xxxx per month. Though none of these are autoblogs, my best autoblog makes mid $xxx per month and even that is starting to get worse each month.

if you have the cpanel login, you should be able to see the traffic details from before you took the site over, from within awstats or similar.

traffic sources can always be disguised but it may be worth taking a look at the ip addresses that traffic prior to your purchase came from. is there a pattern? is it one ip address or similar ip addresses on a similar range? what countries? what pages on the site? if it is consistent (especially from similar ip address ranges) then you know the seller was artificially inflating traffic to pump up analytics / traffic stats for the sale of the site.

sadly there are sooo many ways of artificially inflating/reporting traffic to a website.

i think when you have done a bit more research it would be worth reaching out to Flippa at least to get their feedback.

Ouch. Paying by Western Union is a huge red flag, its a scammers first choice for payment.

I wouldnt just "forget this", we'd be happy to help if you can give us clear questions of what you need.

tina, there's a possiblity, however slim, that the problem isn't a seller scam. If the traffic pre-handover was genuine traffic then there may be something simple on the site (or elsewhere) that's blocking the usual visitor flow.

Sometimes sellers don't answer because it can be hard work talking a beginner through the problems/solutions.

Can you give us some more information? Where was the traffic coming from pre-handover? And what's the domain name of this site you bought?
