    Google Page Rank Review

It seems that Google ran a Page Rank Review yesterday. I wasn't aware it was happening, but it appears a few people on DP were.

Is there a way of knowing when it is going to take place?

In a list of 17 names I had thought about registering, four still have a rank, and in each case they have been dropped a point. The rest are N/A doggydoo.

A lot of domains I have regged but not used are reduced to PR0, a couple have lost a point, and one peculiar domain with no site has gone up from 3 to 4!

If you want a bit of schadenfreude, two Italian PR8 sites, bilanceri-sandra ,com and boccato-bulfone, com have no PR at all now! And these are the people who know how to help your biz? Oops!

The problem is if they haven't been dropped yet, there is no way to know if google will drop the pr after they are dropped.

My testing has led me to believe that even if the domain owner name changes that one of the following will happen

If the content stays the same then pr stays.
If the content is removed pr is removed.
If content is changed then pr either stays the same or lowers (but not necessarily removed.)

Er, No Dad, wrong end of the stick (my bad phrasing) - I meant, is there any way of telling when Google are going to do the review?

It is a bit obvious from what some people said on DP that they were forewarned. and knew it was happening - and looking at what has happened, and is still happening with domains about to drop, this is one of the most savage re-ratings ever. Most of the domains dropping tomorrow have already been stripped of PR -

Ah sorry yeah ok I got the wrong end of the stick lol.
I haven't been looking at dropping domains lately so yeah disregard what I said. That was my observation from a couple of months ago when I grabbed quite a few dropping domains.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting different results depending on which PR checking tool I use. What's the most reliable way to check?

If the results I've found are to be believed, I've had good news and bad.

    5 -> 4
    4 - 5

Mostly there's not been much change on mine, although a domain with a one-page "for sale" message has gone from 4 - 0. Gawd know why it was ever a PR 4 in the first place.

And the good news is that my new (four months old) CAN site has gone from 0 - 4.

Not all datacentres are updated at the same time, you might see some different results for a day or 2

I should have mentioned probably the most reliable is googles own toolbar. Well done on Can Do site Kay I think that site can end up being a powerful site for you.

Well done, Kay. I've seen some pages go up, some go down. Of course PR matters mainly to link sellers/buyers and doesn't impact much on SERPs anyway.

crabfoot, I can't find your two ex-PR8 sites.

PR update time is a good time to go to the link selling venues, including DP, to watch sellers squirm now that their zombie sites (drop-catch) are zeroed

I kind of gave up caring about it when I realised it had little to do with traffic. (Except when I go to sell a site or link lol)

I don't really care about it, but other people seem to, so I think I need to pay at least a little bit of attention to it. Plus it's like a vote of confidence - perhaps I'm doing something right.

Same as Alexa - I can't stand the darned thing but I suppose I have to be pleased when they say that one of my sites is doing OK.
