As my friends here know, I'm not a fan of advertising in any way, shape or formso I don't like the advertising forced on me here , but I think this is a genius idea.

Damn that is a good idea. The only problem I see is they probably should have tried to sell the idea to google first. Google pretty much own captcha so it won't be long before they add it as a revenue stream.
It's not as good in practice as it may sound. Think un-targeted ads, annoyed members, and a few pennies per day. Of course, this is from what I've seen on forums, it might work better on other types of sites I can only speak to what happened on some active forums it has been put on.
I can only assume google will target the adverts and it will probably been more successful for them as people with javascript turned off will have to turn it on to get into whatever the captcha is blocking them from.
It does seem that is would start out that way (being un-targeted) but once it took off and G got hold if it, I bet that would change.Think ads, annoyed members, and a few pennies per day.
Also, regarding the annoyed members, I have always preferred the "What is the first word in this sentence?" anti-spam method. There is a unique type of frustration that is evoked in me when I have to re-enter a Captcha multiple times, rivaled only by the "server is too busy" message which always causes me to go into a mini-tantrum.
Indeed very cool idea and I like the explanation video they have. Any idea who made it?
That could be a good idea. Is there any reason the ads couldn't be targeted? I think it could be done.
I thought G owned everything anyways?
@Clinton... we need to talk about this advertising thing.

LOL! Agreed, Andy. If it wasn't for advertising in its various forms - AdSense, affiliate marketing, etc, etc - some of us wouldn't have any money at all. Just think of poor lil old me with no food, no beer, no roof over my head. Can't afford the monthly ISP bill and anyway the computers have all been sold by now... Would you not miss me?@Clinton... we need to talk about this advertising thing.![]()
More Menu Madness - it makes you want to ask for the "check please".
