Poster Of The Month - February 2010

    Following from the discussion here.

This is the official thread for poster of the month. I need your cooperation for this. Please.

I need you to nominate someone for
    - a thread they started in February that turned out to be very popular in posts / page views OR
    - a post they made in February that was particularly useful OR
    - generally being an active and helpful participant during Feb.

You can't nominate yourself, me or a banned member, but you can nominate anyone else who has been a member at any point during the month of Feb. Nominate by posting below and telling us why you nominate that person. Please also link to the thread/post where relevant. As long as you stick to that you can make multiple nominations.

Nominations close on the 10th of March and I'll then start a poll thread where you can place your vote.

There will be one winner who gets a $200 prize.

    Must have missed this post.

I'll vote for TrustButVerify for their thorough due diligence in this thread.

I really enjoyed this thread DomainMagnate started asking what sort of sites people tend to buy. It was interesting reading from a perspective of what 'might' be a good investment and why, but also it gave me as a seller some more insights into what buyers are looking for.

Edit: Oh that was in January.

In that case I ditto what Hooperman said. The due diligence shared was interesting.

They seem to be more interested in the chat than in the money

    And that's a good thing!

You guys have made 1,500 posts in a very short space of time. What's better, they are top notch posts and are worth 15,000 posts in some other places, or more. When a few of us first got together to talk about possibly starting a forum and I volunteered to run it I expected this to be a huge uphill struggle to get members and good threads. But it's been surprisingly easy, my thanks to those original members and all the ones who joined later.

I appreciate that $200 is small change to many of you so, great, this month you get a chance to nominate someone else for both the prize and the glory!

Next month we'll focus on who started the best threads in March. That'll hopefully give me a better idea of what you want to discuss. So... start some threads!

And nominate someone today. That's a better way of saying thanks than giving them rep!

Any chance of you crowdsourcing this and awarding this to the post with the maximum reputation points? Just a thought.

Good suggestion for a passive solution - I could use that to resolve the winner every month without any direct competition input from members.

But I want to get you lot more involved in this, not less!

You are underestimating the amount of effort it takes to click the reputation button

True. True. From what I'm seeing, not a lot of people are using the rep button. In fact, hardly anybody is using it. We could end up with a situation where nobody gets the prize!

I'll stick to the principle that users should be the ones who ultimately decide these things. So if there's a fair amount of support for your idea I'm happy to look into how I can track differences in individual rep from the start of the month to the end.
