According some recent research by consulting firm AptiQuant - obviously not something to be taken too seriously.
LOL, AptiQuant rests its case! The report has sparked anger from IE supporters, who have threatened AptiQuant with legal action.

I'm not sure if I'm proud that AptiQuant is Canadian after reading the details of that story. =Not that I disagree with the results mind you.
I would have to agree as well I think ie users are definitely a few bob short of a dollar.
Anyone that's ever edited a free directory queue has found themselves exposed to more viruses than the average resident of a New Orleans brothel. If you were using IE while editing you also discovered that hackers targeted IE in greater magnitude than most other browsers, so your chance of catching something that made your hard drive hack and wheeze was greatly increased by using the product that came bundled with your op system.
Incidentally, That bundling is one reason IE is targeted. They know it's the default, and thus will be on many machines. They also know people that retain their computer with default settings are by nature the least likely to be experienced... Thereby they're also the least probable to know the need for having kaspersky running in the background even if you only think about plugging into the net.
So IE users are pretty much going to be over-represented among victims anytime a phishing expedition takes place, as the average experience level puts them more frequently among the folks that go to work with a smile thinking that thanks to the wonders of email not only will they soon be "more able to please her!!!"... They're also gonna have more funds to do it once that nice fella from Nigeria comes through with the cash.
Bottom line, using IE to cruise the net is like driving your car down a dirt road while your air filter rests comfortably in the back seat. Does that mean you have a lower iq? Not necessarily. Might just mean youre insane.
Using IE certainly puts someone on the list of users with questionable IQ, however, someone with an AOL email address definitely removes all doubt...
It's not just IE. It's the ones who use versions of IE plus some compatibility-mode sh!t on it (I'm not a techie). Then they throw a hissy fit and tell you that your site is "broken", when all that needs to be done is for them to turn off the stupid compatibility thing because your site was designed for modern browsers. Grrr! I remember the carry on we had about that before (and I had to get help here because the tech dept had gone shopping).Originally Posted by grynge

I dunno if it's about IQ or insanity, it's most likely inexperience and not being web savvy. There are more of them every day and they've got a heck of a learning curve compared to how it was for those people who've been doing it for years.
Someone said on EP a while back (sorry I can't remember who it was now) that in ye olden days if you had a computer, then you were a computer expert. Nowadays there's just so many specialisations it's impossible to know "everything". But, yes, ditching IE would be a good first basic step.

The whole "study" being discussed here is a fake.

Geesh, I expect more critical thinking from a bunch of FF/Chrome users![]()

But any bad publicity for IE is a good thing. No?

Oh hell, we knew that... But how can we skip a chance to call IE users retarded. I mean, if the opportunity is there n all, can ya just walk away?
Honestly though, despite having improved somewhat, if it didn't come bundled with the computer, would anyone in their right mind say... "ya know... This chromes just running too durn fast... I gotta get IE on this machine".
