Make Money Online with Google Engage

OK, here's an ad for a Google service: engage.

I see an opportunity there that would certainly suit several people on this board. Adwords and Analytics are complicated products. Take the time to master them and you're investing in your own skills. Most businesses could benefit from a proper use of those services, but most don't have the time to invest.

What's more, the services you offer small business and/or local businesses are easy to sell because you could link your payment to results.

There are marketing companies who do it, but there's still, I believe, huge local opportunities for those who are willing to take the time and trouble.

One caveat: Google can steal your customers and there have been cases of them contacting your customers directly so ensure you build rapport with your customers and they see you as their main partner, not Google.

I don't know if there are examples. I didn't say that they "do", I said that they "can".

Saying that, there are allegations around like this thread in webmasterworld.

Looks like a good one for someone like JJMcClure. I totally gave up on adwords products centuries ago. Can't please G to save my life when it comes to landing pages. It doesn't seem to matter to them if it converts well or not - from what I can tell "quality" is determined by some catholic voodoo druid scientologist.

I would be very wary of getting into bed with Google, given their history of shutting down projects without much notice, especially when it would be incredibly easy for them to cut you out of the loop.

Of course, that caution applies to pretty much any big business, not just Google.

One more reason. Not to mention the fact that G has a nasty habit of changing the rules seemingly at whim.

Thanks, I'm all over that as soon as I have time! Free training is something I'll never turn down, I use adwords all the time but aside from giving perry marshall some of my hard earned cash (a long long time ago) I'm pretty much self taught.

Are those cases on record somewhere we can see them?

Yeah, any business is going to shut down a failing product. Google have a symbiotic relationship with webmasters, they need us more than we need them so they have to maintain the quality of their products whilst maintaining trust or it's all over for them.

A few months ago I was offered the chance to join this program by Google. I actually passed it up, but I did tell a few members about it by PM.

Now, why did Google make me that offer? I believe it was because I have a relevant half-finished site hosted on Google.
Why is the site half-finished? Because Google sites would not let me run a "dangerous script" on my site.
What dangerous or potentially harmful script was that? Adsense code.

    Symbiotic? I give up ...

They need all webmasters, but couldn't care less about you or I individually. Their real customers are users of their site, and that's who they care about.

Well, since I both provide content for their index AND I'm a google user, they care about me...

EDIT: Just got the phone call about Engage and I'm on the programme, I'll be skipping the basic stuff and going straight to advanced since I've been using adwords for years, can't wait to see what I'm going to learn. I'll report back if anyone is interested.
