Creating websites using Adobe Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

Hi, I am new to the whole website 'business' and I do not have much money. I was wondering if I, or anybody else, would make money by making a website template using Adobe Fireworks and Adobe Dreamweaver then assigning the template a domain.

How much would you estimate one of these selling on flippa? I already have a few ideas in my head about what i could design the website around, however I do not have the money to promote these websites therefore if I could make abit of money selling these templates it would really help me along my way. As i have never made or even run a website before I am totally oblivious towards; how adverts appear on my website and how to get my website on google and to a high page rank in google. I assume these are the two main concepts on making profit on these websites?

If anyone believes this would be a good idea or it is one to avoid i would really appreciate your comments on the matter, so I could get going or get back to the drawing board again. I would also really appreciate any comments the whole advertisers and google subject.

    Thanks.

You could make money just by designing sites for people, but it's difficult to find such work if you're not already established. If you're building sites to sell on places like Flippa, they really need to have some history and some regular earnings that you can prove.

If design is your strong point, you could enter competitions to designs sites/ads/banners etc. Have you heard of 99designs.com? Check it out. Do you see something like that working for you?

    Hey Cannon, welcome

Web design is a non-stop learning curve, or at least that's what I've found over the years. I started with a copy of dreamweaver and an ambition to build websites too so I know exactly where you are right now. If you're starting totally from scratch then the best thing you can do is build a few sites and get a bit of experience.

I'm sure if you Google it, you'll find a bunch of stuff giving advice and I recommend the SitePoint Web Design Business Kit (no I'm not on a commission, it's just very good and will pay for itself many times over).

CannonT, I'm a bit confused. Are you looking to develop sites for resale or looking to build traffic and advertisers and keep them as a source of revenue?

As far as websites go...start with a "baby"

Pick a topic you are passionate about...In my opinion, this is the only way to motivate yourself to learn enough to get over that initial hump. It is a non-stop learning curve, but as with any foreign language, the hardest part is always at the beginning.

I don't know, that is just my experience. I am into urban/street culture, and shoes are a big part of that. So I had a website to sell shoes in high school. That was my baby, and provided much of the foundation I have today

Wow, kasle, that's really cool. My interest in always tweaked when I hear of someone who's made money in something I know absolutely nothing about. Shoes a big part of "urban culture"? I don't know if I even understand what urban culture is! Dare I say this - I thought those lads wore just trainers.

But that's excellent advice you've given above.

Yea, it is wild...I don't have a savings account, I just buy shoes when I have extra money...In a good economy, they usually outperform traditional investments (they are always getting older, harder to find in good condition, etc.). So if worse comes to worse, I sell off my kicks and have a good 5 grand to start over with

I'm curious. Could you explain a bit more about this? I'm sure others would be interested in hearing about how shoes can be an investment and how to go about making these investments.
