Just picked up a co.uk website... how do co.uk domains work? Godaddy no likey

Picked up a nice little co.uk site today with revenue.

Seller transferred the domain over at Nominet and now it's registered to me there.

I've never owned a co.uk so I was a bit confused to hear that godaddy does not accept transfers TO godaddy of .co.uk domains. (at least that's what the rep says).

    And technically the registrar is:

    Registrar: (tag: SCHLUND) Web: http://registrar.1und1.info
Sorry, guys, I'm a complete noob with this, can someone explain how this works compared to a .com type domain.

Nominent is like the registration information holder for all .uk domains? Is that right? But then you still buy through a registrar?

    Help a yankee out here

I transferred one to Namecheap without any issues a few months ago, and I am an American.

godaddy and several other registrars won't take these. Yeah, .co.uk is a pain like that. Thank your lucky stars you're not talking a .ltd.uk. Even several UK based registrars won't deal with them. I'll let someone else take a shot at explaining the .co.uk vs .com as I need to go prune an apple tree in the garden - we have one of those rare sunny days here in the UK.

You need to buy from a registrar. You can't buy from Nominet. But you can log into Nominet to manage them.

For site operation it is the same thing as the com. You tell the registrar the name servers. When you sell the domain it is different. You have to change the tag.
