Domain Name Auction Results from Targeted T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 2011

The T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 2011 conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, included a domain name live auction on October 18th. The final list offered totaled 120 domain names, and this link shows the names and reserves.

The results are 46 of the 120 names sold for prices ranging from $200US to $45,000US. The highest live bid was for Dubai.com at $750,000 and that did not meet the reserve.

Thanks. It was interesting to see some of the new .XXX names going for quite good prices, and it seemed there was even some interest in .co domains. (I still have my fingers crossed that .co will become more popular - and not because of any targeting of Colombia traffic either.)

Crikey, even some .TV and .me names went as well. This could be an encouraging sign for those hoping that there's life beyond dot com.

There seems to be a huge discrepancy between wanted prices and actual bid prices on a lot of the domains.
Then there came a time, of Kings, Empires and Revolutions, blood just looks the same when you open the vein.

I am not convinced TRAFFIC is taken that seriously anymore.

Would you care to expand on why TRAFFIC isn't taken seriously any more, please? I'd not heard of it before and I pretty much took the report at face value. It would be interesting to learn more.

The feedback I hear from USA domainers is that its less a 'must be at' style event, to more a sales pitch and / new domainer style setup.

There is big biz in selling tickets to events, there are a few UK based 'gurus' offering conferences now. Its a revenue stream in its own right (nothing wrong with that) but I think there is a difference between 'domainers for domainers' events and the event being a biz.

IMHO it jumped the shark over the flowers.mobi fiasco.
