    Suggestion for new threads

So how about we discuss on these forums individual threads from Flippa and what's possibly wrong with them? That way the Flippa people and the thread starters can't delete any comments made. I actually find those comments quite useful but then suddenly they disappear.

This is something I see all the time - and I even have people email me their sites on this basis - usually with a link to the sale on Flippa

They are counting on the 'one born every minute' factor - and the challenge appears to be that there is one indeed born every minute

Flippa really don't have any incentive to POLICE - because in doing so they would reduce their revenue.

That is why I have high hopes for what Clinton is doing here - maybe one day he can add a buy/sell facility - but only for approved sellers

I would rather look at fewer deals - but quality Deals, rather than the tons of muck around on most forums. In fact things are so bad, I dare say I miss some good deals because of all the silly clutter

    Barry

    Melissa, I like your idea.

Here's what we'll do - registered members here can start a thread to discuss any current sale in Flippa and then anyone wanting to comment could add their comment without fear of it being deleted. The DD and Gotchas would be the best place to post them.

And, Barry, for a limited time here's what I'll do: I'll pick out selected listings that DO look like quality listings and post them here. You guys vote on whether any deserve to be moved to Gotcha!

That might explain their slowness in responding to reported auctions that are close to their end time too.

I think that, from a learning point of view, discussing Flippa listings is a good idea. I've got a routine I go through when checking sites, so it'd help me if I saw what other people do and how they look at things.

Flippa had the chance to be really good. They had the captive audience from Sitepoint, the budget, the programming talent, everything. Then they started by registering the wrong domain name - flippa.com - and it went downhill from there. A new company was set up, everything transferred there and a huge dose of greed got thrown in. The PR disaster that was their initial resonse to all the negative threads didn't help.

Despite all that, they rolled their sleeves up and went resolutely for the lower common denominator - the people who are gullible, stupid and both.

Sadly, that's where the easy money is there to be made.

The good news is that Flippa is looking to attract higher quality sites to the market. Flippa have posted this request asking for our opinions on how to attract the right type of seller. We have a chance to enter the debate and possibly influence changes at Flippa to our advantage (without fear of posts being deleted )

Bah, I have little to no interest in helping Flippa do anything after their comments and general attitude in the past.

I see no reason to help Flippa make more money after they pissed all over us.

Don't get me wrong, I have no particular love for Flippa myself. It's a place where I do business.

I like to think that I'm in this for the money. It's what I do to pay the bills and - to use a Dragons' Den reference - to build my children's inheritance. I won't refuse to buy a site just because it's in Flippa. This forum doesn't exist to promote Flippa. Any changes I hope to influence at Flippa are for our advantage, not theirs. They don't pay me and I turned down an offer to carry their ads.

I am keen on encouraging more people to bring their quality sites forward. And encouraging more of that hidden market to come here and discuss their sites or ask our advice (and maybe give us a head shot at putting in an offer).

What suggestions do you have for us to do that? (Even if you're not interested in giving Flippa a kick up the pants when they need it) Do you have any suggestions for us to reach that market?
