Domains and adsense!

Do you mind letting me know if it is worth picking up a couple of domains, based on the results of the adwords keywords tool? so if lots of people search for say widgets, and I can get widgets.co.uk or .com , would this be a good idea to build a mini site on and link back to mine?

These can be really seo focused and will have the keyword in the domain. please let me know what you think!!

I guess that i should also take into account the competition for these keywords..

2 cents: What you are talking about is a feeder network. If the primary site that you are pointing these baby sites to, is really remunerative, then this might be a good idea. Otherwise, the time / effort / money required to run these baby sites could be better used by using that effort on the main site.

thanks, my site does not make any money at the moment but i would like to build up some steady traffic-something that seems pretty difficult(!)

Thing is, it'll probably take more than simply having the keywords in the domain to get those sites ranking and drawing traffic. Then you're stuck with multiple sites to promote instead of just your main one. It might be a good idea, but don't assume you'll get masses of traffic just from unpromoted keyword domains (unless those domains attract type in traffic).

Hi leon, love your thinking and questions so far in the forums. I think it's a good idea as an icing on the cake type strategy. I'd start with the site you're trying to monetize first. So is the title tag optimized, is the basic on-site seo done. Now off-site SEO (the more important one)...do you have links back to the home page and deep links? What anchor text are you using on those links?

Are you trying to get the site to rank organically or is the market too competitive so you're only focusing on marketing in related networks to drive traffic?
