    Buying sites questions

Hey everyone, so I have started looking into buying new sites at Flippa.com. I'm very new to this and had a few questions. I have never used godaddy.com before and one of the sites I was looking at said that they would send the domain and all the other information and things that I buy to my godaddy.com account. I just set up an account, but I'm curious how I transfer other things like the adsense info or the product purchasing info to me. Does everything usually get transferred? I guess what I'm worried about is when the money starts coming in from products or click per ad stuff do I have to set up a different account like paypal so that money goes to me? Just something I'm wondering about. Thanks a lot for your time.

The only thing they can send to your GD account is the domain. Moving a domain from one account at a registrar to another is called "pushing".

For all the rest you have to devise other strategies

Adsense: You could take over the existing Adsense account but that involves changing the email address Google has for the old account and editing all the payment information in the backend controls to ensure it's your bank account that gets the credit every month. If you're doing this make sure Google never figures it out! In most cases people use an existing account they have at Adsense (or start a new one) and change all the ads on the site to reflect the different "publisher ID" (account number). This could be quite time consuming if there are many pages to edit and/or the seller has a large numbers of channels as you'd probably want to re-create all those channels so you can track how various ad units and pages are performing.

Product Purchasing information: This is not as easy to answer. In fact, I don't know quite what you mean. The solution varies widely depending on where and how the owner is selling products. Accounts at eBay and Plimus, for example, can't be transfered and you'll have to open new accounts and do a lot of setting up and configuring. If he's selling ads via text-link-ads.com or similar broker he could simply inform the broker company that the site has a new owner and the owner would have to open at account with the broker.

Paypal account: Yes, if he's receiving money via Paypal then you need to have your own Paypal account and ensure that everything that customers have been paying for via Paypal now show your Paypal account instead of his. The same thing applies for revenue streams going into a bank account or other money transfer organisation.

I've covered some of the above in this article.

Thanks a lot. This is great info.

Thanks Clinton for your assistance. I will do some more investigating into what systems they are using. I will also check out your article. Much appreciated.
