    Autoblogs

I have been debating trying my luck with an autoblog and seeing how it goes. But I am not exactly sure how it works. If you buy an autoblogging script, can you use that for as many blogs as possible, just changing keywords and such? Does anybody know any good places to buy/get a good script?

How about the downsides? I know the lack of original content is a huge strike against the autoblog. What have been the experiences of the members here with autoblogs?

Very interesting questions. I "inherited" an autoblog network when I made a recent acquisition. I'll watch this thread with interest to see if anyone has any answers.

We're not talking about whether Google likes them, or whether they are "ethical" because I'm pretty sure the consensus will be a resounding No! to both

I must admit that I don't know a thing about autoblogs, but the first thing that springs to mind is "duplicate content". Any automated way of generating content must use existing content, either verbatim or scrambled (I imagine). If it's verbatim, then I don't fancy having a word for word copy of an existing article on my site. If it's scrambled... same thing - there's enough nonsensical rubbish on the internet!

I'd also be interested in other peoples' experiences as my opinion is just based on gut instinct.

I've never bought into the whole autoblog idea but I have seen examples of sites that are receiving traffic and they have nothing but duplicate content that is fed from an automated content management system. The visitors are clicking on the AdSense ads and so there is indeed 'automatic' income.

Personally I see this as 'just a matter of time' before Google catches up with these types of sites. There are systems that insist they leave no footprint but I'm just so risk averse that I wouldn't take the chance. I've also seen examples of people claiming that their blogs with auto plugins/content etc get dumped down the SERPs after awhile and will intimate it's the fault of the plugin or auto program. Until I see a factual case study I'm hesitant to say one way or the other that it's going to get you into trouble with the big G but some people are happy to take that risk anyway. There are ways around their bans anyway right.

I just think life for me is more pleasant not worrying about if my sites have been deindexed or about to be, or my AdSense account has been banned and my IP has been flagged. Those things might not ever happen but it's too tiring even thinking about whether they will or won't for me.

It does suit some people though.

Hmm, definitely good discussion. It will be interesting to see if the Autobloggers can stay ahead of G...

I also wonder if the script writing will eventually reach a point where every post is unique because of spyntax rather than duplicated. Maybe some are already doing this.

I must admit it's getting increasingly difficult to tell the machine generated nonsense from human written content. If machine generated has reached that "quality" spun content is obviously going to be much higher.

Michelle and hooperman, the smart ones don't build autoblogs to stick their Adsense code on! Jeez, no! It's to attract bots that are partial to fresh content, it's to filter links from other networks, it's to contextualise links before passing them on, it's to provide other webmasters a location to publish their junk in exchange for links on worthwhile sites, it's for a lot of things. But it's not for your own Adsense ads, you don't put an autoblog on your money site. Argh! You maintain all your autoblogs at arms length.

LOL, you mean like linking to the main site and then linking to the autoblog networks in the same post so everybody can see that there is no connection between them?

This question may get a better answer at the Black Hat World forums. They're at the center of the autoblog universe.
