    Google Analytics Alternatives

Like most of you on here, I am always wary of providing Google with too much information about my business for a number of reasons. The one aspect of my business where I can't seem to get away from them is visitor tracking. I have tried Piwik, HiStats, and SiteMeter as potential replacements, but all of them have left me wanting for one reason or another when I ran them in parallel with GA.

I'd rather not get tied into any subscription based service, but I'm willing to consider one if it doesn't have too many limitations. GetClicky appears to be out because of their limitations on daily page views. I have dozens of domains and add more on a regular basis, so Mint is out because it would be very expensive (I know I'm picky).

Does anyone on here know of a suitable alternative to Google Analytics? I am considering just purchasing Urchin for my business, but I'd like to exhaust the free or low cost options out there before buying a tool that I have to host and manage myself. I just want something that can accurately track visitors, page views, visitor locations, visitor activity, and referrals. I don't really use goal tracking (though I probably should), and I don't need any advanced reports.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks. I haven't checked out that one or Woopra yet. Have you used Dan's service?

    Benitez, check this out.

And Yahoo analytics is really good but you need to be a Yahoo advertiser if you want to get it free.

Thanks a lot. I haven't looked into Reinvigorate at all, and I wasn't able to find that product from Yahoo, which surprised me because they usually roll out competing products for Google's services.

How did you get on with this, benitez17? There are a few sites I own that no due diligence can associate with me and I don't want to tip everyone off - or even just Google - by using GA.

I decided to try Woopra next, but haven't made any progress beyond that. I might have time to get it set up this week.

Mint is pretty cool, although it's been a long time since I had a look at it. $30 per site - self hosted. http://www.haveamint.com/

Thanks for that Luke. Mint looks er, cool

It's not even a hosted application i.e. it runs entirely on your own server so complete confidentiality and no relying on third parties!

There are a couple i've found which are good. Statcounter is quite a basic one but it gives you nice clear information. If you want more detailed information clicktale is quite nice. Not the same format as analytics but it shows what people have been doing on your website in a very visual way so you can see where people have been looking and what they've been clicking on. you can get a free service which is quite good but you can pay to get more.
