    Expiring domains

Hi all, is there some way of getting in a queue to put your hand up for domain names that are coming up for renewal? I really don't want this particular name so desperately that I'd approach the current owner, but if they do happen to not renew it I want to be sure I'm in the right place at the right time to buy it if possible....yeah like we all would, lol...but this isn't some super duper domain, just one that I know will match something I have in mind.

I've used pool.com in the past. You pay nothing initially but pay $60 if they snap it up for you.

Most domain registrars offer a backorder feature which will notify you if the domain becomes available. There are also a couple of new services for expired and dropping names too:
    http://www.expireddomains.org/en
http://www.domainface.com/ (not yeat released but should be out very soon).

I tried one with godaddy they charged me £60 to get involved in the auction then I got that back when I didn't win it.

Also I hear that when a domain is due for renewal the owner gets 80 days after the last registered day to renew it before it can go back on sale to the general public does anyone know if this is true?

This is true. Actually it's 75 days give or take.
