    Reputation Management Spam

I usually just delete spam but this was a new one for me so I had a look. Basically they are offering a "service" that if someone says something bad about my site and it shows up in G, they will flood the SERPs with positive articles and reviews about that site.

They seem to make out that they have some influence over the SEs, pretty much the same as most of the link building charlatans. I was just wondering if the crappy link building "industry" had got so old that this is the next way for these guys to sell their services.

Have I been on another planet for the last few years or is reputation management going to take over from link building as the new blam, splog, etc?

If I publish the name of the company who spammed me, should we offer to do some reputation management for them?

Reputation Management has been around for a while and it's one of the most popular SEO services lately. Pretty much every SEO company does it.

easiest way to do it is just set up and promote facebook/twitter/google+ profiles for the product or business brand name to outrank any negative publicity.

Yeah, I know what reputation management is but it was new for me to get a spam from them. I get zillions of link building idiots to deal with, but it looks as though the reputation management twits are moving into that niche now.

Do you think that the link building spam might ease off a bit while they now concentrate on the reputation marketing side of things?

Reputation "management" businesses have really taken off recently and are big spenders. I haven't seen any study of the industry but my guesstimate is that it is growing by several hundred per cent every year.

Of course, it's nothing to do with "reputation" or "management". It's about burying bad news and flooding the first page of SERPs with results that make it difficult for people to find out what an awful company you really are or what a brutal dictator/swindling scum/prostitute using politician you really are.

Maybe there's money in reputation destruction. I'm surprised the tabloids haven't cottoned on to that. Get ahead of the curve - start a company specialising in spreading bad news about competitors.

This is actually easier to do than reputation management and can be even more profitable for the seo companies. Will get you lots of bad karma though

LOL! That's just reminded me of our ex-lawyer. If you type in his name solicitor, we are #1 in G, and have been for years. That site is also #2 for the name of the guy who bought our house off us, and #3 for our ex-tenant.
