Flippa tries to provide some explanation in their latest blog post.
It seems like sellers have been playing fast and loose with calling their sites "established".
But isn't it all getting a bit too confusing for sellers now?

For me, it's over 1 year of existence.
How exactly is Flippa planning to enforce this rule?
For me, the issue is how long the site has dodged the sandbox. If the site has 6 months of no sandbox or panda bite, I'd call it mature.
If the site was ever offline for more than 14 days, was previously redirecting, or if the site switched to a different niche, then the Site Established Date is from this more recent point in timeWorra loada rhubarb. Perhaps we can guess what they mean, but if there are no timescales quoted the statement is garbage. Site down for a month ten years ago isn't worth mentioning, site down for a fortnight last year and they want the owner to fess up? I'd admit to not having data until 6 months ago ...Taking your site down for up to 14 days (for maintenance, hosting changeover or other reasons) won’t change your site’s Date Established. Any longer than that, and we’ll consider it a new site. Same thing happens if your site’s focus changes from one topic/niche to another.
That second statement seems to be worded to combat zombies. At least they recognise that zombies are a stitch up and newbie buyers often fall prey to them.
I do commend this apparent interest to police seller claims a bit more. I don't know if it's the best way of dealing with the crook element.
