    Turnkey websites and/or learning WordPress?

    [Edit] Thread split from http://experienced-people.net/forums...hread.php/5318

Thats a very good question mark.Im afraid i cant help as im new as well but i will be very interested in the replies.I had been thinking of a similar subject today when i found this site abcdesignstudio.co.uk so perhaps this could be used as an example of, would these be worth looking at if not why not.Perhaps there is a reason thats blatantly obvious to those experienced people as to why not bother with that site.

Also i would like to say good luck to you mate, you have already had some by finding this forum.

Let's turn your question around first, Rog, before we start going into the guts of it to reply to you. Why do you think that buying a "profitable turnkey website" is going to work for you?

I don't know anything about that company or even if it's owned by an EP member - if so, can the owner please tell us why your offering is different from the countless others who churn out template sites for sale.

Rog, are these sites really profitable or just potentially profitable if you do a lot of work to drive the traffic and convert it? Have you done any research into that? You do realise that although their wording suggests you'd be buying a business, what they look to be doing is selling you a website, from which you can start to create a business. But you can create a website yourself. We've already seen that. Why do you want to get involved with something that's "so easy that even a kid can own one of our turnkey website businesses"? If it's so darned easy, then why are they selling the things rather than taking all the profits for themselves? Could it be because they make their money from selling web design, hosting, and various other related services?

I dunno, that company might be OK but it doesn't tick any of the boxes for me. Anyway, why are you still looking for someone to hand you something on a plate rather than creating a business for yourself?
More Menu Madness - it makes you want to ask for the "check please".

Kay has it nailed...what about those sites makes them attractive? Well I looked at two and from what I saw nothing at all.

    None existant on page SEO.
Relatively useless domain names, who googles computermerchant? No one.
The one site clearly stated powered by Amazon, and was just a shell to search amazon.co.uk
    No backlinks
    This list continues....

So basically you could pay me a hundred to knock you one of those up in the afternoon, heck I would throw in free hosting. What I might suggest is that you go and research those above points so you know what you are looking for in future. If you have any questions about why one SEO practice is preferable to another or how to establish what makes a good domain name, I am sure people will gladly help.
End answer really is you need to inform yourself about what makes a good site, then you will quickly see through this sort of offer.

P.s Anyone else the site building was hypothetical, I am not that cheap and have better things to do than cookie cutter sites :P

They don't change the marketing -

Two and a half years ago you could make money for having a good keyword domain. Buy one of these at the time and it would make money because Goog was giving advantages to keyword domains.

Googl shut that door and the panda has bitten off all the other lucrative bits. They're still trying the same strategy to sell the things. They won't change that strategy until they stop selling ...
