Toysmadeinamerica.com looks solid on Flippa. But is it?

I won't be bidding on this one. Too busy with my offline business.

    https://flippa.com/2697220-toys-made-in-america

It looks like a great site with room for improvement. It looks like it makes about $5500 a year with a few too many revenue drivers.

I ran a quick back link check through seo spyglass and there are quite a few pr 4 links pointing to the domain and it looks like it gets some decent traffic and a back link from a story abc news ran on the site.

As far as the advertiser yearly revenue....the most they charge for a yearly link is $300. Seems like this could be improved but what do I know.

I would get a heatmap going on that site to see where the action is and eliminate a few of the lower earning rev streams as well as add a few more advertisers in prominent spots for a higher price.

Anyone see any red flags on this listing?

It's evergreen, is a topic that is consistently in the news, has a solid domain name, shouldn't require much upkeep, and has plenty of room for improvement. I don't see anything wrong with it at first glance, though I definitely need to see more detailed traffic stats and some clarification on the claimed revenue.

I'm going to keep a close eye on it.

If the 10k visitors a month is legit, and you put a well thought out and organized advertising rate chart/circular together this site has quite a lot of potential.

I have no idea where you might go to find more advertisers but the Thomas Register was my first thought.

I was thinking that you could charge at least something for the businesses listed in the center column that are free right now.

It's a lot less fun when you were hoping to buy it for less than that. I gave up a few thousand ago.

    It's currently at $17K. Goodness.

At that price, I would have to assume that the new bidder has some advertisers in their back pocket and they also plan on jacking up the ad prices for those already paying the yearly ad fee. Something to the effect of 'here's the new yearly ad costs....pay up or beat it'.

I assume it isn't a competitor of some sort making the purchase either.

If they don't have some sort of action plan like the one above, maybe they SEO the pants off the site and try and double the traffic. That sounds like too much work at this point. The multiple is reaching 3+ years.

At $10k Benitez was in nicely, if that was his bid. I would have tolerated that myself if I had the time. At $17K I'm starting to wonder what the plan of attack is for this site. I will be very interested to see what changes occur once new ownership takes over. Surely they have big plans?

I'm trying to put myself in the position of the $17k bidder on this auction, assuming everything is as it seems with the site and the listing. In my pea brain it has to be selling ad space at much higher costs than the previous owner and more space.

Two advertisers at $99/month with a six month minimum.

Five advertisers at $59/month with a six month minimum.

That's $500/month in ad revenue alone. Assuming the new owner keeps earning about $200/month with Adsense and $100/month with CJ you're already at $800/month.

It would take about 21 months, just under two years, to recoup your investment of $17k if you found seven advertisers willing to pay those prices and were able to secure their commitment for 21 months.

What if what if what if.

I think it's still a good deal at $17K and would bid if I had the time to do the changes required to better monetise this site.
