    Post Media.net

Media.net is trying to get market share from Google.

Right now I'm adding media.net tags to one of my sites to test them out. Do any of you use them? And if yes, what is your experience with them?

Media.net just contacted me through one of my contact forms. I was wondering if anyone had dealings with them? I know delta isn't frequenting the board as often these days but if you see this Delta how did you go?
I got out of bed today staring at a ghost. Who forgot to float away, didnt have all that much to say. Wouldn't even tell me his own name.

Perhaps Media.net is on some kind of blitz at the moment. I received an e-mail 3 days ago asking whether I was interested in placing ads on my blogs. I replied indicating my willingness to hear more. I then received a reply asking for a telephone conversation. I in turn replied indicating that I was too busy for that but would be happy to see more information from them. Since then I have heard nothing.

    They spam me periodically!

Their approach is usually to do an "ad deal similar to what you have with Google Adsense". The email makes all kinds of wild claims.

I don't usually reply to spam, but on one occasion I asked:

Got some links to some independent reviews of your service?

    >>They get phenomenal results for our publishers.

Sure. Got some evidence of this? Perhaps by way of testimonials from these sites

And I got another looooong boiler plate email that completely ignored my questions and asked if I wanted to talk on the phone.

    Pathetic!

The last email from them was in December 2011.

I'll revise that last email date. I have one today from a Dipika Kabra who is a "Business Development Specialist" at media.net

Your experience is a little different than mine then - the last I heard from them was in April after I applied, saying they'd contact me within a week about my application, been a bit more than that

Check the media.net homepage - they're now partnering with Yahoo/Bing and offering a contextual style ad program. This could finally be a viable Adsense alternative.

Thanks for the heads up, gzed. I'm fed up with AS and their stupid personalisation of ads instead of contextual ads so I decided to give this a try.

Here's how I got on. The sign up process was fairly painless. I had to enter my name, email address, and phone number. (I hate people phoning me so I gave them Dave's.) Then I had to say what website I was applying on behalf of, what category it's in, and how much total ad revenue it currently makes. (I'm not too sure why they want to know that.)

Then they wanted to know what type of entity I was applying on behalf of - individual, "corporation", etc. (I've never thought of my little company as being a corporation but it was the best fit.) Next they wanted the name and address of the company. This must be an exact match of the name of the company's bank account and the address must be the same as where the bank sends their statements. (Fine so far.) They need all this information for verification purposes. (OK, but I hope they're not expecting to find me there.)

Then I got a message saying that they only add a limited number of new publishers every day and their program is so popular they have a backlog of requests to join. It could take up to two weeks for them to get back to me.

It all looks OK so far, but what puts me off is the earlier postings in this thread about how they seem to be so keen to talk to people on the phone.

If I ever hear back from them, I'll let you know.
